My daughter has red itchy bumps on her arms and feet. What could be the cause? She was diagnosed with a staph infection but the bumps persist. Bed bugs were mentioned but she is the only person being bitten. Could this be an allergic reaction to something

This : This is tough to answer without a picture. There are several possibilities including bites (fleas or other), eczema or allergic contact dermatitis, lichen planus, folliculitis (staph infection), and others. I doubt bed bugs given the location. I would recommend you try a moisturizer such as cerave cream twice daily and if not better after a few days consider a trip to the dermatologist for diagnosis and treatment options. Bites are common in kids so that is certainly a possibility. If they are bites, avoidance plus a steroid gel might be beneficial. I hope that helps. ...Read more

Boyfriend saw lil red dots on penis. No itchiness. Pharmacist told him he has nothing. Even thoug girlfrnd had a yeast infection. What r the red dots.

Need eval: I have great respect for pharmacist but he/she can not tell your boyfriend he has "nothing" without actually evaluating him. Also they are not medical doctors so this is not the appropriate person to ask. He should see a clinician (md/do/np/pa) who has trained to answer this question and who knows they can't give you a real answer without more info or at minimum inspection. Good luck. ...Read more

Can you have a yeast infection without much discharge (instead - red, irritated, burning skin on the vulva, little itchiness)?

Can you have a yeast infection without much discharge (instead - red, irritated, burning skin on the vulva, little itchiness)?

Typical symptoms!: Contrary to what you seem to think (or what you have been told), increased discharge is not one of the main symptoms of yeast. Your own symptoms are EXACTLY what I teach medical students to look for and patients to be aware of. See a doctor to confirm the diagnosis. Or you can try an over the counter yeast medication -- then see the doc if symptoms don't clear up in a few days. Good luck! ...Read more

Hello, I need help to differentiate a skin allergy or infection from herpes. I have itchy pustules with red base on the thighs and belly button?

Folliculitis?: Herpes typically presents as a cluster of vesicles (filled with clear fluid that eventually scab over). A first episode can be more extensive and sore, but thighs and belly button sounds more like folliculitis. Folliculitis is a bacterial infection of the follicles. See your dermatologist for diagnosis and treatment. ...Read more
