Get checked for STI: Not many STIs would start as a single red bump, but herpes might be a possibility. You don't say what other symptoms you have that seem to be "the same symptoms as an STI" -- and obviously STIs are on your mind, which implies you are sexually active and possibly at risk. STD unlikely : Ingrown hairs are common in the pubic area, created by shaving or the friction from underwear. They can appear as pimple like bumps. Applying warm compresses and washing twice daily with a warm soapy washcloth should help the site drain and heal faster. See your doctor if symptoms do not improve with these measures.
