Have a lump on back side of head and one more at the base of my neck. They are a little red and tender to the touch. Making neck sore also.

Seek evaluation.: Any neck soreness from a "lump" needs an evaluation. The timing of the evaluation is based on the speed at which the symptoms are developing. If the symptoms are new and progressing over a day or two, or if there is a fever or stiffness in the neck, please seek care asap. See doctor: If you have a swollen node and especially if it is persistent, you should see a doctor. It is not necessarily something ominous but it deserves more attention than an internet 'evaluation'. I hope it's nothing but get it checked out. ...Read more

My daughter just turned 7 and she came home with a swollen lymph node that she says is tender her throat isn't real red or swollen can you receive pic?

No. Doesn't matter: The regular HT site is for general information, not diagnosis or treatment. You cannot define whether a kid has strep or mono or a throat virus by looking, although sometimes it seems easier than others. Proper evaluation would include a quick strep test at the office and a backup culture if it was negative. Some of the worst looking throats I see are mono/viral. ...Read more

2 month old son fell off bed light red bruise on bottom of his head right above neck it's been a month and it's still their. Why?

Are you sure?: Are you sure it wasn't there before? It sounds like a "stork bite." it is very common for babies/kids to have a light red splotch on the nape of the neck. However, when a 2 month old falls off anything he should be seen/examined by his pediatrician asap. Please take him in and have his doctor look at the red mark - if it's not a 'stork bite' it shouldn't be there a month after the fall. ...Read more

Could be infection: A red streak coming from a bite could be a sign of bacterial infection that needs to be treated ASAP. To be safe, you should see a doctor or go to the urgent care soon, before it spreads more. If not treated, it may invade your bloodstream, which would be very serious.
