ER: The er is not the place in which to begin a diagnostic evaluation for a 3 week illness that your doctor is uncertain about. If the doctor is not continuing an investigation to find the cause of these disturbing symptoms then perhaps they can refer to someone more specialized for further assessment. Strep test: Did you have earlier ASO titer which then documented rise of ASO? If you truly had strep infection which was not sensitive to Amoxil (amoxicillin) there are plenty of others available. Get evaluated: Your individual problem can't be solved in this forum. See your physician -- that presumably ordered the CBC -- for follow up. In general, elevated neutrophils can be seen with bacterial infections or any sort of inflammation. It can be caused by a variety of conditions, but sometimes there is no cause identified (in which case it's called idiopathic.) if she is not being seen by a hematologist, she definitely should be.
