Second opinon: I think it's very likely that if you do have a rectal prolapse that your doctor would have noticed it upon her examination of you. A friend of mine did surgery to remove fistula from her rectum and after this surgery it just keep bleeding isn't this dangerous?

Bleeding: All bleeding comes to an end at some point. But your friend likely doesn't want to wait that long, and it could be dangerous over time. The body needs blood for several important functions. If the bleeding truly doesn't stop, she should call her surgeon tonight. It might take a little cautery to stop the bleeding. ...Read more

Is it sometimes "normal" to have pain 5 mos post-colostomy surgery? (partial rectum removed- cancer.) sharp spasms of pains off & on in lower region.

Yes: Pain can occur at least up to 5 months postsurgery after any major abdominal procedure when a partial resection of the rectum has taken place and there is no colostomy, it infers that anastomosis has been performed. Occassionally the suture line starts to close down partially narrowing the lumen of the rectum. One must check that this has not happened. Sometimes dilatation needed. ...Read more

Had a colonoscopy a 2 week ago. A large polyp was removed 5 inches inside, no problems until last few days, very sore in the rectum, no blood.

Getting better/worse: ?? if worse, would definitely go see your GI doc. Did you get constipated after the procedure perhaps? Sometimes straining can lead to more painful hemorrhoids. Make sure you know what your polyp was as well (tubular adenoma, tubulovilleous adenoma, any dysplastic changes) and when they want you back. ...Read more

Could use your help docs! My doctor did a rectum exam on me and said it was inflamed down there so she prescribed me with naproxen 250mg. Will it work?

Very doubtful: Any colon or rectal inflammation should not be treated with naprosyn (naproxen). Canasa suppositories by prescription may help, but more importantly you need to find out why you have the inflammation in the first place. You need a more specific diagnosis. See a colon and rectal surgeon or a GI doctor and stop the naprosyn (naproxen)! outrageous to have prescribed this. ...Read more
