Unknown : It is common to have a variety of aches and pains after an operation that come and go. These are likely due to the operation itself, wound healing, position on the operating table, and activity thy may compensate for the operative site, using alternative muscles and changing posture. Sounds normal, but check with your surgeon to be sure. ...Read more

Why does it seem like i'm getting an UTI after my menstural period after having hernia surgery and then gallbladder surgery?

Ask about Foley: Some surgeries such as hernia and gallbladder surgery, the surgeon may place a foley catheter or straight cath prior to surgery. This can put you at risk for a UTI. You should also look into the antibiotics you were given, they can also lead to UTI. If you have gotten frequent UTI's, you should see a Urologist to get a further work-up ...Read more

I have GERD hiatal hernia schatzki ring have had diation x3 in 6 mnth period what kinda surgery would help tired of all the pain?

Schatzki ring: Dilation of your esophagus every 2 months times 3, and your symptoms persist, is concerning. Hi, I had hernia repair surgery in 2011 from a c-sec. I have a hard lump and get periodic pain if it is bumped & during my period. Is this normal?

Scar tissue: Sometimes scar tissue forms a lump at an incision site. It can be hypersensitive too. If this is a big problem for you, you can have the scar revised. Although no one can guarantee that it won't happen again with another incision. Discuss this with the surgeon who performed the hernia repair. Get a second opinion, too. ...Read more

Is an edg and berium xray both needed on same person with-in a four day period? Complications from barriatric surgery done jan. 2011, in june of same year a mesh was placed on hernia around navel area, shortly after , a blood clot was removed in same area

EGD : Egd and a barium swallow are two tests that are often used in combination to diagnose problems related to the esophagus, stomach, and first part of the small bowel. During an egd a camera is inserted into the mouth and passed down through all three areas to get a close up view of the lining of the GI tract. The barium swallow involves swallowing x-ray contrast and then taking x-rays to get get a MAP of the organs by outlining them with the contrast. You can determine the shape of the GI tract as the contrast moves through it and whether or not something such as the stomach is connected to something else, such as the abdominal wall. If so, you may be able to see contrast moving along the connection. If you were trying to learn more about a neighborhood (the upper GI tract) a barium swallow would be the equivalent of looking at a street MAP and and an egd would be driving down the street yourself. ...Read more

Sir i got umbilical hernia problem so in feb i just done with the surgery. before surgery i got periods and now i miss my periods whats the reason??

Unrelated : Your menstrual period is not related to the umbical hernia repair itself. At age 52, menopause is common, and perhaps this is the beginning. You should see your primary care doctor or gynecologist to weigh the pros and cons of hormone replacement therapy, along with learning more about what to expect in the peri-menopausal phase. Hope this helps! ...Read more

I had one Fallopian tube removed. but on the otherside I had surgery for a hernia and nerves. my periods have been horrible. can my other tube rupture?

Short answer: yes: If you still have an intact salpynx (tube and ovary), it is possible to get infected, twist on itself or have an ectopic pregnancy develop. If your menstrual cycles are off or bad, seek help from gynecologist. The hernia surgery probably didn't do anything to the remaining tube or ovary. ...Read more

Surgery: You may want to speak with your surgeon regarding the activity. Usually it all depends on the surgery and post op complications on how much activity you can tolerate. What is the recovery period for hernia repair w/alloderm?

"weeks": Recovery is a very broad term: till return to work?...Activities?...Pain-free? These times are dependent on the type of hernia and method of repair, rather than the mesh used. Depending on these factors, people may return to normal activities as soon as 2 weeks or as long as 6 weeks post operatively. Talk with your surgeon--they will be able to narrow this down for you.
