Recommended Cardio For Strained Hip Flexors
I strained my hip flexors months ago. Is it normal to have pain when standing? I cannot stand for long periods of time.
Hip pain on standing: If you strained your hip flexor muscles (primarily the psoas muscle), then it would be common (nor normal) for you to have pain in these muscles on standing or any time you stretch them. Yet stretching them is also the best way to heal them. Regular, slow stretches, as far as you can go without severe pain, repeated 10 times for a set, 3 sets a day. ...Read more

Depends upon its --:
Severity & duration you have had it for.
The RISE= Rest, Ice, Stretching Exercises + pain meds like Aleve (naproxen) or Motrim would get the job done, but it'll take about 2 weeks at least, maybe more.
Stretch the flexors gently several times a day and gradually increase the range. Do not overdo it. After a day or so you'll get the hang of it. If you do too much, it'll hurt worse.
See PCP if not improving. ...Read more

Lunges: The strained hip flexor muscle will tend to tighten. It is important to gently stretch a sore muscle. Start with warm-up of marching in place. Then, the hip flexor can be stretched by doing a lunge. With the strained leg behind the body while partially quatting onto the opposite forward leg you should feel the stretch in the groin. Hold for 15-30 sec and do twice. Include some brisk walking. ...Read more
I have hip flexor/groin strain, I ice it 3 times a day. Should I stretch right after ice or wait for awile then stretch?
Wait a while after: Icing. If you were using heat, which can help now that it's not in the acute stages, the stretching right away would be fine. However, after icing, want to let muscles get back close to baseline temp before stretching or you can cause some very small micro tares and delay healing. Either cold or heat is fine, whichever gives you more relief. ...Read more

A muscle strain: Is a tear of the muscle fibers. Along with RICE, it is appropriate to do VERY LIGHT stretching and massage of the area to prevent the muscle from tightening down during healing. Once tight flexors are stretched, a strengthening program will help. ...Read more
