I would like help with computer addiction?

I would like help with computer addiction?

There is help: For what are called behavioral or "process" addictions. However, getting a full mental health evaluation would be where I would start, and any competent psychiatrist/psychologist would be able to point you in the right direction. Computer addiction can be a form of paraphilia - a sexual fixation, or it can be part of an obsessive-compulsive pattern. Treatment depends on the cause.

What can be done to stop my addiction to computer and start to become productive?

Brain: Most addicitons are a brain thing. Certain parts of the brain produce pleasure and these get very sensitized so a very small particular stimulus will set them off. If you really want to stop an addiction, stop the action completely and do - rpeat do - something different. Eventually the urge dies down. But a little of the same thing will start things up again - even a long time later.

Is computer game addiction different from video game addiction, online addiction, or internet addiction?

All the same: Addiction to anything means that you are not getting the most out of life and your relationships with family and friends. Limit your time on these things and make your life and relationships your priorty. On your deathbed you will remember the people in your life; not the hours you spent playing world of warcraft.

What can I do or who can I talk to to break my computer addiction?

Meaningful life: Computer/ internet addictions like other addictions are what some default to when they are depressed, anxious, stressed, bored or tired. The first step is to decide if you have a problem. The second is to decide if you are willing to do something about it. Fill your life with creative, meaningful activities and relationships so that you aren't left with a void that you fill in with the computers.

Why are computer games so addictive?

Why are computer games so addictive?

Because they are fun: No one ever got addicted to something they hated. Make your life and your relationships your priority. Play your games when you have time after those things are attended to. On your deathbed you will remember your friends and family; not the hours you spent on world of warcraft. Make some good memories everyday you may need those in your old age to get you by.

I use computer a lot at work, do you have any recommendations for a wrist splint/guard/support or any other methods to protect my wrist?

I use computer a lot at work, do you have any recommendations for a wrist splint/guard/support or any other methods to protect my wrist?

Ergonomics: A splint will not help as much as an ergonomic desk. You want your feet on the ground and your back straight in a good a Support chair. Your wrists need to be straight with your elbows bent at 90 deg. So you might need a pullout drawer. The splint will only help teach you the position.

I went to see my aunt today so wonderin what alcohol/drugs cause squirmin n lot more gigglin to she has history of alcohol n dtug addiction please hel?

Could be anything: Getting "high" usually includes a sense of euphoria and decreased inhibition. The symptoms you describe could be from abuse of almost anything or even represent an underlying medical or psychological condition. Have you talked to her about getting help? Also, not to be judgemental, but I hope you are not on all 3 of the medications on your profile at the same time. Opiates can be addictive.
