My recent blood test showed lymph% at 44. Should I be concerned?

Depends: This depends on so many factors hard to answer breifly. Typically? No. Sometimes, of great concern. I'm a hept b carrier. Recent blood test shows hbe ag reactive. What does it mean?

You are infecitous: Having the "e" antigen on board in your blood is a marker that your blood is especially dangerous to others. This is true of some other body fluids as well. Recent blood test showed my bun at 18 and my creative at 1.02 both on high end of range, should I be worried?

No: If you are a muscular male, these results would be right in the normal range. As it is the results are within normal limits. However, all lab results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. See this site for more info.

A recent blood test indicated iron at 176 mcg/dl (where normal is 45-170). I am having a followup test, but I'm wondering if this level is dangerous?

A recent blood test indicated iron at 176 mcg/dl (where normal is 45-170). I am having a followup test, but I'm wondering if this level is dangerous?

Not "dangerous": Advice: doctors treat patients and not numbers.

A slightly elevated iron level without the clinical context, is like a fish out of water. More info is needed for context-Why was the test done in the first place? Were you on iron supplementation? The iron level mentioned can be concerning in the context of iron overload, but being 6 pt over the upper limit of normal is not considered dangerous. ...Read more

Blood test result - on a recent blood test result the component result for ALT (sgpt) was 66, which was listed as abnormal. What might this be?

Maybe "hepatitis": Hepatitis is defined as inflammation of liver cells, as is indicated by elevation in serum transaminases (ast and/or alt). Hepatitis can be caused by a variety of issues (infectious, ischemic, metabolic, toxic, infiltrative, alcohol-related, drugs, etc.). Alt is not however specific to just the liver--so, what tests have been done ; what has been ruled out? ...Read more

Recent blood test showed fasting glucose reading of 102 mg/dl. I'm not overweight and exercise regularly.?

Ideal: Ideal is 100 or less. A more adequate test is the hemoglobin a1 c test; it represents your average blood sugar over the past 2-3 months. An ideal a1c is 5.5 or lower. Above 6.0, one should consider a diabetic medication if diet is not helping to lower the blood sugar. ...Read more

Estrogen 296 pg/ml recent blood test results. What are the possible reasons for the elevation? (i'm a 25 year old male, healthy)

See endocrinologist: That is a very high estrogen level. The first thing is to have it repeated in a reliable lab (an endo reference lab). Some possible causes for high estrogen are obesity, liver disease, excess alcohol, taking testosterone or other anabolic steroids. A hormone producing tumor is an uncommon cause, but possible. ...Read more

I have cirrhosis and I'm decompensated. In a recent blood test my amonia level was 33. Should I be concerned or satisdied with this result?

Amonia: 33 doesn't appear to be very high, but it doesn't mean much, as some folks whose ammonia level is chronically elevated are able to tolerate it ok, whereas others who are not used to it, will not. Also, ammonia level tends to fluctuate and a spot check of 33 doesn't mean it's not changed since and is not higher now. ...Read more

My most recent blood test showed my hemogolbin level was high. I smoke cigarettes n the dr thinks this may b the reason y. I'm really worried?

Then quit smoking!: A high hemoglobin level is usually from smoking. A person's hemoglobin level is essentially the amount of red blood cells. A low hemoglobin is referred to as anemia. The red blood cells are, among other things, responsible for carrying oxygen around the body. Having high hemoglobin means your body isn't getting enough oxygen so it's making more red blood cells to compensate. Quit to change this! ...Read more

A recent blood test showed my mean blood glucose at 114, yet the clinician said all was normal. Should I be concerned? Get a 2nd opinion maybe?

A recent blood test showed my mean blood glucose at 114, yet the clinician said all was normal. Should I be concerned? Get a 2nd opinion maybe?

Need clarification: If your clinician said it was the mean glucose, I suspect s/he did an A1c (a way to look at the average sugar over past few months). 114 is equiv to an A1c of 5.6, which is upper limit of normal. If 114 was a fasting glucose, that is in the pre-diabetes range (abnormal). Repeat testing is advised to confirm either. If you are pre-diabetic, take this seriously-full diabetes can be prevented/delayed. ...Read more
