NPH is intermediate in duration (peaks about 10 hr, lasts about 24 hr) and regular peaks about 3-4 hr, lasts about 8. It may say on the bottle or package insert what kind of insulin. Look for the words "NPH" and or "regular". ...Read more

What makes Trovax different from other kidney cancer meds (like nexavar, proleukin, torisel, (temsirolimus) sutent)?
Other drugs worked: Nexavar, torisel, and sutent all received FDA approval because they improved progression free survival. The initial Trovax trial was terminated early because there was little or no prospect of demonstrating a statistically significant survival benefit compared to placebo. http://clincancerres.aacrjournals.org/content/16/22/5539.long ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Hi, what are the antiviral drug for dengue virus spesifically the rna-dependant RNA polymerase as the potential target? Thanks
None yet: Dengue fever and its severe form, dengue hemorrhagic fever, have no cure nor vaccine. One path of research is to find a way to use nucleoside analogs to block the viral rna-dependent RNA polymerase (coded by ns5), which copies the viral genetic material. So far, no drug has been approved yet. Not sure if anyone has found and submitted such a drug to the fda (food and drug administration). ...Read more

At this point, leprosy has consistently responded to multi-drug therapy which for multibacillary leprosy is usually Dapsone, Rifampicin & Clorazime. Other antibiotics can be used. This is one of the oldest diseases known to mankind and appears to remain steady in it's form. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Above/below the belt: In general, hsv-1 causes herpes labialis (cold sores) and hsv-2 causes anal and genital herpes. But the viruses don't always follow the rules, so it's possible, for example, to get genital herpes caused by hsv-1, especially with an initial outbreak. Hsv-1 would be unlikely to cause recurrent genital herpes, however. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Type 2 is mediated by IgG or IgM antibody and complement proteins that are "cytotoxic" that ends up killing the target cell. Examples of this are hemolytic anemia, Graves disease, Myasthenia gravis, Rheumatic heart disease, etc. For anemia, a Coombs test is used ...Read more
