No matter how much or whatever I eat, I never get fat and always remain thin. What's the reason for this?

See Dr., then eat...: If one is truly underweight (based on height, family background, and body type), a Dr. Can evaluate for a hormonal, digestive, or other disorder. If no medical cause is found, then one can add weight by eating more calories of nutritious foods, while also doing weight-training to increase muscle. I exercise an hour and a half 5-6 days a week and eat well, but suddenly am unable to lose any weight. I recently turned 40 - is that the reason?

Reached a plateau: If you lost significant amount of wt fast, your body may have reached a plateau, at least for awhile. Your body needs time to adjust to a new equilibrium and if you are persistent, likely u will start to lose some more. Doing 1.5hrs/day 5-6x/wk is fantastic. So, keep it up. If can't lose more with good discipline, consult doc. Good luck. ...Read more

My weight keep increasing even though I exercise every other day. I wonder what can be the reason. I don't eat lot of unhealthy food or high quantities of food?

Keep a record: Of ALL the calories you consume and the exact amount of exercise and type and take this to a nutritionist or a clinician. You don't give your age or gender, but women over 50 must exercise at least 45 minutes a day to keep from gaining weight. And it could also be another medical condition. ...Read more

Any reason why I am so gassy no matter what I eat?

Any reason why I am so gassy no matter what I eat?

Feeling gassy...: Feeling full of "gas" may reflect malabsorption of food (like gluten, lactose), intake of poorly digested food, or choosing foods known to promote gas (beans, fizzy drinks). Sometimes its more complicated--a stomach emptying too slowly, bacterial overgrowth syndrome, delayed intestinal function, partial obstruction from any cause, infection, rectum problems, and pelvic pathology outside the gut. ...Read more

Is there a reason why I am gaining weight if I exercise and eat right?

Questions!: What is eating "right? " many people think they are but are not. But, apart from that issue, exercising increases plasma volume (2-3 lbs), and will add muscle mass. This may be hiding body fat loss! I always measure body fat for patients on a diet/exercise program to document this! I would have this done, because cyou want to see increased leaness, not fat%. ...Read more

I keep gaining weight, but I don't eat much, is there a medical reason for this?

I keep gaining weight, but I don't eat much, is there a medical reason for this?

Possibly: Hypothyroidism (low thyroid hormone), cushing's syndrome (too much cortisol), med side effects, inactivity, fluid retention; there are many reasons why weight could increase despite not eating much. Regardless, apart from retaining too much fluid (eg. Congestive heart failure), if weight is increasing, it is because the number of calories exceeds the body's need. ...Read more

My friend and I eat the same foods. She leads a more sedentary life than I do. And she is NOT one of those who never get fat. Yet she is slim. Reason??

Matabolism: As the saying goes, "One size does not fit all." We each have a unique metabolism, the speed at which we digest food and turn it into energy and fat. Lifestyle also plays and important part. Are you basically healthy? If so, rejoice. We all want to look good and like being slim. Be neat and clean, nice to self and others, and that will produce more happiness than the number on the scale. Shanti ...Read more

Conflicting stories about eating raw honey from store, is it ok or is there a reason not to eat it if it says raw. Can't find real honey all fake. Ty?

Little reason to eat: Honey in any form is full of sugar. Although promoted as a remedy for various ailments in the old Medicine world, it has no medical uses that the modern science can discern.
My advice to you is not to eat anything too sweet (Honey is sweetest) as sugars are bad for your body as they lead to increase in weight which can cause multitude of other medical diseases like Diabetes and Heart disease. ...Read more

I have a problem with my weight my weigh is 80KG my tall is 165cm I don't eat too much and the view of my body isn't fat. Can u tell me the reason plz?

BMI isn't enough: Hello. By knowing your weight and height, your body mass index is 29.4 which is at the upper limit of overweight range.

However, BMI doesn't tell the whole story. If you have a lot of lean tissue, your BMI can be high but have a normal body fat percentage.

Body fat percentage can be estimated with measurement skin fold thickness, home body fat scales, or more specialized body imaging scans. ...Read more

Is it normal for a 7 month baby to not want to eat baby food for 2 days, for no apparent reason?

Is it normal for a 7 month baby to not want to eat baby food for 2 days, for no apparent reason?

Yes.: Some children have very discriminating tastes and do not like the bland taste of baby foods. Some do not like a particular food. I encourage parents to make their own food. If you can mush it he can eat it. And mushed/pureed table food has more taste and fiber. Give one new food every three to four days. It will pass. If he is teething he may also be a little sore and just not want to eat. ...Read more

What can be the reason for my tongue having "sores" whenever I eat spicy/sour foods and then it disappears again.

Likely canker sores: Recurrent painful sores in your mouth after eating spicy foods are likely canker sores. We don't know why they occur. Trauma, hormone changes and emotional stress are triggers too. If you have other symptoms, get the sores elsewhere, have lesions that don't heal in 10-14 days, or if the pain is intolerable- see your doctor. Avoid the spicy foods and consider taking a daily B12 vitamin. ...Read more

Are resp. Therapists really being phased out and their roles returned to nurses like they once were? I was told not to go in the field for that reason

It's a point.: There are many changes going on in healthcare. Yes, nursing services may include respiratory therapy. One could say the same about becoming a physician, because nurse practitioners and physician assistants will be doing more and more that MD's r doing. I think it depends on how strongly you feel about going into any field, but go in with open eyes about the changing realities. ...Read more

Everytime I feel hunger is like starvation mainly when waking up. In the day I don't eat in 3 in 3 hours could be more or less. Could this be a reason?

See answer: The physiology responsible for hunger, or lack thereof, is complicated. Numerous hormones are secreted by the body with intricate feedback loops that control hunger. In addition there are emotional factors involved. There is not enough information provided by you to give any specific advice. An online consultation at Health Tap may be helpful. ...Read more

Within the past week, I have only been able to eat maybe half of what I normally could without feeling full to the point of being sick. Any reason why?

The most: Common reason is a stomach problem which at your age would probably be either gastritis or a gastric ulcer. IN ANY CASE if these symptoms continue past 10 days to 2 weeks (The" span" for upper GI or stomach VIRUSES) a HANDS on Visit to your PCP (Primary Care Provider) is necessary!
BTW the medical term for your symptoms is "Early Satiety")
Hope this helps!

Can eating really fast and not chewing food properly be the reason my food comes back up for hours after I eat and tastes the same as swallowed before?

Can eating really fast and not chewing food properly be the reason my food comes back up for hours after I eat and tastes the same as swallowed before?

Probably not.: Eating fast should not cause regurgitation of stomach contents, unless maybe you are eating so much that you are becoming overly full. Assuming that is not the case, then the rapidity of your eating should not make a difference. It is possible that you have acid reflux that is causing your symptoms. If antacids do not work, see your doctor. Good luck. ...Read more
