Reason For False Negative Results In Hiv Eclia Tests
Had HIV test waiting for results only reason I had it is because I have a soar throat for two weeks is that related to hiv?
Sore throat alone is not usually a symptom of HIV. Often fatigue, flu like sxs maybe with throat lymph node sxs. This is why most people are unaware. Acute HIV viral syndrome.
You have a h/o Chronic sinus infections - possible post nasal drip sxs
Tonsillitis, reflux, other throat infection.
Tell your doc if oral sex was involved, check other STDs also. I commend you for getting tested. ...Read more
Hiv infection is caused by a retrovirus....This retrovirus binds to CD4 cells (for the most part). You may detect the virus by several different methods. An elisa test (enzyme linked immunosorbent assay). You may also detect it by doing a test referred to as a western blot (a gel protein electrophoresis). Thirdly by pcr (polymerase chain reaction) which ...Read more
Why is HIV PCR used to test blood at blood banks, babies and acute HIV symps but not as a diagnosis? Other than cost and false positive what could be the reason that some docs don't trust it? Thanks
PCR is a. .: ..complex test, & more technically difficult to perform accurately than the antibody tests. Because PCR detects viral-RNA (proteins within the HIV virus) it is positive early in the course of infection & is used to try to confirm/exclude HIV as a diagnosis for a set of symptoms. You are correct that there are more false positives with PCR than with antibody tests. Antibody tests are gold standard ...Read more
I was diagnosed w HSV2 a few yrs ago. Took an at home HIV test seven mos after possible exposure and it was negative. My L ear has been blocked for almost 2 mos and for some reason I cant shake the idea of HIV. Am I just being paranoid?
Not HIV, no worries: You really needn't worry about HIV. HIV would not cause blocked ear as the main symptom (get checked for ear wax build up). The home HIV test is very reliable any time 3+ months after the last possible exposure, but you could have a lab-based test for even further reassurance. Almost certainly you do not have HIV. The vast majority of people with HSV2 never get HIV. ...Read more
What are the chance of getting a false negative HIV result 8 months prior to last exposure. I had 2 negative test at 4 weeks and 2nd one at 8month.
What reasons would cause an HIV dna/pcr test to be "false negative". Does waiting too long to test using it effect the result?
False Negative: A false negative means that a test result said a condition was not present when it was, thus the negative result is false. Please let your doc determine what is false negative or false positive. Peace and good health. ...Read more

Would Clobetasol Proprionate (Dermovate 500mcg/g ointment) cause false negative test result to Syphilis and HIV if applied in broken skin and genitals?
Hello, I have tested 5 times for hiv but 4 are posive 5 are negative what could be the reason and my current status plase help?
Doubt HIV, retest: This is an unusual situation. Probably you don't have HIV; most intermittently positive test results are false. But additional testing should be done to know for sure. If you're being seen by a doctor or clinic, discuss it with them. In the meantime, don't be too worried: probably further testing will be negative, and false positive HIV tests do not indicate any other serious health problem. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I've prickling, crawling & tingling feeling in feet & hand, body twitchs since 6 wks of possbl hiv expsr. Is hiv the reason? Neg 6 months for hiv, std.
When a person faints and get sent to the hospital I was told they test your blood to find the reason why you fainted. If you are hiv would they tell y?
You can ask: You can ask your primary doctor to test you for HIV. If you went to the hospital after fainting they might do blood work but they would probably not routinely test for HIV unless there was some other reason to do so. (This would include you asking them to test for it). Most local and state public health departments also have HIV testing available. In Florida call 850-245-4334 for assistance. ...Read more
I had a neg oraquick last year after just checking my status even though I never had a reason to contract hiv, just a lot of mysterious flu like symptoms, would it be worth checking again?
Not HIV: The oral fluids HIV antibody test takes up to 3 months to become positive, but after that time is 100% reliable. (The blood tests are quicker, typically positive by 4-8 weeks, depending on the specific test.) As long as you weren't exposed in the 3 months before the test was done, your negative result is rock solid. See a doctor if symptoms continue. In the meantime, you can be sure it isn't HIV. ...Read more

0.6 cd4/cd8 ratio, 40% of T-cells are cd4, HIV/HTLV negative, no reason found. Is this idiopathic cd4 lymphocytopenia? Even if cd4 are 40% no lower?
LEUKOCYTOSIS: LEUKOCYTOSIS = elevated WBC. These labs associated with infection/leukemia /lymphoma and demand prompt evaluation You need an Exam/Labs/UAC&S and CXR to start. Wondering if possible exposure to HIV in JAN2012 did test in August2012 was negative in 2014 retested again still neg any chances of false negative?
I would feel comfortable that you are HIV negative: It is possible to to have false negatives if you have some kind of interfering antibody That interferes with the test however this is unlikely. I would feel confident that you are HIV negative giving the two negative test that doesn't mean you will always be HIV negative you must abstain from risky behavior. ...Read more
