Child hit side of his head 2 weeks ago. Now has goose egg on forehead and bruising on side of head and behind ear have just appeared. Serious?

Head Injury: Have him seen. The forehead injury by itself does not sound concerning but now the appearance of bruising on the side of his head and behind his ear makes it more serious. Bruising behind his ear may indicate a skull fracture. He would best be seen in the ER. All the best. ...Read more

My 6 month old baby fell off bed (3ft) head first and bumped her head on the metal frame and has a bump on the topfront part of her head. Take her in?

My 6 month old baby fell off bed (3ft) head first and bumped her head on the metal frame and has a bump on the topfront part of her head. Take her in?

Not necessarily: You need to observe the baby. If she cried initially but could be consoled and is now active and interested in her surroundings, as well as able to tolerate formula, you can watch her for worrisome signs, such as the soft spot bulging, frequent episodes of vomiting, unequal size of her pupils as well as protracted crying or difficulty arousing her. Such behaviors require emergent evaluation. ...Read more

21month old just fell off of bed and hit her head on our metal floor fan. Has a small bump on the back left side of her head! visit er, or just ice i?

Observe her: Probably she'll be fine. Red flags to take her to er stat include: sleepiness, vomiting, purple or red bruise behind 1 ear (battle's sign), facial deformity after the fall, confusion, or seizure. Normal, non-emergent signs to expect after a head injury include headache, nausea, irritability, and lack of interest in playing. Trust your instinct, you're never wrong to bring her to er. Is there any real concern when my baby keeps falling over and hitting her head on the wood side rail / panels. She cries but quickly goes back playing?

Is there any real concern when my baby keeps falling over and hitting her head on the wood side rail / panels. She cries but quickly goes back playing?

Unlikely to be pbm: Most kids who fall from their sitting or standing height do not generate the kind of force needed to hurt them. This would be different if they hit the corner of furniture or brickwork. They cry, and settle quiickly.I would be worried if the kid passed out at the time of the fall or developed repeated episodes of vomiting.Keep her on her normal nap/sleep schedule and monitor as needed. ...Read more

My husband keeps getting a pins and needles sensation in the back of his head which only goes when he insist on banging his head on that area. ?

Pins & needles: The most common cause of pins and needles sensation in the back of the head is a pinched nerve in the neck, usually secondary to significant arthritis or disk degeneration. If the pain is constant, it is understandable that he might want to bang his head just to distract himself from a worse pain, but this isn't the best way to deal with it. Have him see a doctor. Treatments are available. ...Read more

Pressure in face. Tingling around temple, forehead and front part of head all on right side.feeling exhausted, back of head throbbing, neck a lil stiff?

Tingling: Is there a rash on the face. Any fever? Any history of migraines?. If no additional neuroloIgical problems, I would take some Tylenol, (acetaminophen) Advil. If there is any fever, etc, I would recommend you go to an urgent care center or ER to rule out an infection such as meningitis, etc. ...Read more

Had no libido when on 10mg of lexapro (escitalopram). Doc recently upped dosage to 20mg due to brain fog rearing its ugly head again. Libido back. Make any sense?

Yes, makes sense: Yes, feeling better when your Lexapro (escitalopram) dose was raised makes sense -- your symptoms of brain fog and lack of libido could have been from depression, which Lexapro (escitalopram) helps to treat. This goes to show that when prescribed in the right way for the right people, Lexapro (escitalopram) can be helpful -- and isn't all bad! glad you're feeling better. You can carry this even further with psychotherapy. Be well. ...Read more

Why is my baby's head so flat?

Back to sleep: Pediatricians now universally recommend putting babies to sleep on their backs to avoid sids (sudden infant death syndrome). Since a babies' skull bones do not fuse together until about 15 months of age, they move causing a flattening of the back of the head. This is temporary, as long as you give your baby plenty of "tummy time" when she is awake. ...Read more

My head is paining at back why?

Muscles: The back of the head is a funnel for all the stress in your neck and shoulders to collect and can drive you crazy. Think flesh=muscles/tissue and not bone/ligament/disc/nerves. Start self-care with a wellness program of vits, magnesium glycinate, sleep hygiene, exercise, self/pro massage, acupressure, chiropractor, yoga, heat, epsom tub soaking, and stretching. In my practice, I use acupuncture. ...Read more
