NO: Diabetes is diagnosed when fasting blood sugar is over 125. Diastix detect sugar in the urine which occurs only when the blood sugar is over 180, so it would miss a lot of cases. Also, if someone has eaten a lot of sweets or other carbs, their blood sugar might go over 180 for a brief time, but return to normal quickly, so they aren't diabetic, but diastix would show sugar in the urine. ...Read more

My metanephrine free urine was 51, blood test was 63, normetanephrine free urine 181, blood test 150- total urine 232, blood test 213. Normal?
Sounds normal if....: the upper limits for blood metanephrine and normetanephrine are 0.50nm/l and 0.90nm/l. Urinary levels are, respectively: Total 24 hr. metanephrine =1.3mg for urine; and total plasma ME+NME is less than 205pg/ml. On urine test results, urine hemoglobin=trace-intact, urine microscopic = indicated, wbc/hpf=0-3, rbc/hpf=0-3. What do these results & terms mean?
Normal: The WBC and rbc are referring to the number of white blood cells and red blood cells seen in a range of microscopic fields of sampled by the lab technician. The number of these cells (0 to 3) for both types of cell is within the normal limits expected. These normal, scattered red cells are enough to cause a trace of hemoglobin on the chemistry test. Are home UTI tests accurate? What if I'm positive for leukocytes at home but negative for urine culture?
5 positive home pregnancy test 2 different brands negative blood test still getting a positive in home test lines very slowly getting darker ?
Blood test for HCG: Given the discrepant results with hpt, it would be useful to see your doctor and get a blood test for HCG levels, it is more sensitive and specific than hpt. Alternatively could wait 4-5 days to repeat hpt. Use first morning urine and follow the instructions for the test carefully. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD. Practice safe sex. Get HPV vaccine. ...Read more
