Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

I got a? On a first response pregnancy test. Does that mean there is still hcg present but not enough for a positive result?

Mommy,AreWeThereYet?: Maybe it means that you are pregnant and the baby has a question for you. Or, according to their instructions, it means there was an error in the test and that they want you to do the test again. Tests of various kinds often have to be repeated for that reason, a glitch in the mechanics of the test, or a faulty sample. But I kinda like the first idea. Is it true that pregnancy results depend on the level of hCG being detected on a pregnancy test. Can the level be so low that doctors draw blood?

Yes, most pregnancy : Tests depend on the detection of a certain level of HCG in the blood. It takes about a week after fertilization (sex that results in pregnancy) for any pregnancy test to be positive (even the blood test). After that time, the blood test will reliably detect pregnancy, and after 2-4 days the urine dipstick test will reliably detect pregnancy. ...Read more

Hi doctors, I did blood pregnancy test today, hcg level: 46iu/l reference: nonpregnant<10,. Last period was 17 april. Does this result mean pregnant?

Yes: If a result has to be less than 10 to be considered nonpregnant, then a 46 means pregnant... unless there is another reason for a level that high, such as a gradually falling bHCG level after a miscarriage. Miscarriages are common. In general, if a woman is having sex, and has a positive pregnancy test, she is pregnant. ...Read more

Even : Even though bleeding can be a sign of miscarriage, there are instances where bleeding can occur (especially in the first trimester), but the baby is still ok. Even technically pregnant until 3 weeks and you don't start producing hCG until then so could that be why my pregnancy test are negative?

I don't understand: Precisely what you are asking, but hCG is produced and detectable by 10-12 days after fertilization, which also means roughly 2-3 days before you'd expect your period in a 28-day cycle. If you test negative at this time, you are not pregnant. Hope this helps. ...Read more
