If i had auto immune hepatitis would my AST and ALT be more 35 and 28 and what about ast÷alt ratio all other numbers billirubin alk phos normal?
Hepatitis: Autoimmune hepatitis produces elevations in enzymes released from dying liver cells. Yours are normal. Anti-liver/kidney microsomal antibodies, anti-mitochondrial antibodies, anti-nuclear antibodies and anti-smooth muscle antibodies are present among other tests and sometimes liver biopsy is also done. ...Read more
I had raised esr, crp, neutrophils and platelets, they've gone down but ALT raised now - 350. Not fatty liver & hepatitis screen negative. Any idea?
Acute issue: Liver inflammation; may be due to meds, alcohol, biliary disease, autoimmune hepatitis, (did not give the ast, alk phos, bili, ggtp results), pancreatic disease (did not give amylase, lipase results), other. Follow up tests, check for stones; consider testing for other causes of hepatitis, besides viral, e.g. Autoimmune, toxic, etc.Not likely due to infectious mono, based on info provided. ...Read more
Got results of lft test, ALT elevated at 130, previously 19. Bilirubin slightly up, all others normal. Not overweight, no alcohol/meds. Any ideas?
I have chronic hep B and my recent LFT values were normal except my Alkaline Phosphatase level was 125, I'm scared. Does this value tend to fluctuate?
My recent labs show my bilirubin, hematocrit, albumin, and calcium levels are elevated. But just slightly. Should I be concerned?
No: Not unless your physician is. Reference ranges are set so that several percent of healthies fall outside. It is rare to find a person who all values unflagged. I'm betting dimes to dollars that you simply had your blood drawn before you had time to drink your morning beverage. ...Read more
Latest labs AST 22, ALT 28 and alp 41 all within range but ALT is higher than ast. Is that pointing to liver damage? My previous labs ALT was lower.
Results are normal: Your ast, alt, and alkaline phosphatase values as recorded are within normal limits for most laboratories, and by themselves do not indicate liver disease. If however you suspect otherwise, ask your doctor for confirmatory or complementary testing of the liver (there are many). ...Read more
Can alcohol abuse raise bilirubin? recently quit drinking, tbili and dbili were both high before, now they are normal. all imaging studies neg.
Absolutely: Elevated bilirubin levels, total and direct, absolutely can be cause by alcohol use and reflect impaired metabolic function in the liver. If your imaging studies are normal then you may not have any permanent damage. Congratulations on quitting alcohol. These bilirubin results are the red flag that signal it is wise to stay away from alcohol. Good luck. ...Read more
Liver enzyme level ALT 54 (slightly elevated). What levels do they reach if a person has hepatitis a, b and c?
What would cause only ALT and AST to rise but normal bilirubin, albumin, GGT, LDH etc.... ALL other enzymes are normal. Started 1 month ago. ?
Suspect hepatitis: Liver injury(Hapatitis) of any cause(infections or chemical damage) will often affect the ALT and AST first and not have effects on Bilirubin if the damage is mild to moderate. Excessive Alcohol use is a common cause, so is Hepatitis A, Hepatitis-B and Hapatitis-C. You should go see your doctor who can do the appropriate tests to make the proper diagnosis and advice further treatment for you. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Hi my liver test total bilrubin 1.7 direct bilirubin 0.6 and indirect bilirubin 1.1 all other are normal can I take acholal or not?
Don't Rx labs: You indicate that you have a history of known liver disease. You need to learn the cause. With mixed direct and indirect being high, this is almost certainly intrinsic liver disease and this is serious. But you ask only, "can i drink alcohol?" if alcohol is the cause of your liver disease, this is a suicide course. If not, you need to find what's wrong with your liver ; seek rx, alcohol-free. ...Read more
Can exercise cause slight increase ALT and AST but still normal range with normal ggt, alk phos and bilirubin?
Slightly elevated ALT- Norm range 9-46 and mine is 63. Normal AST and all other liver and kidney test from my blood work normal. Should I be concerned?
My blood test came back with my ast-253 alt-217 and alk phos-145.0 are these readings dangerously high? I have hep c and cirrhosis of the liver
These : These lab results are consistent with your condition, and indicate an advanced disease process. You need to be followed closely by your doctor. If you have abdominal pain, yellowing of the skin, vomiting blood, etc. Present to the er at once. Otherwise continue to follow up with your doctor and avoid alcohol, fatty foods, and foods with high salt content. Also avoid tylenol (acetaminophen) and advil. Take care. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My recent blood test showed , ESR and RDW levels slightly high, and hematocrit level decreased slightly. Should i be worried?
Lab data: Difficult to comment on lab results without clinical correlation, but you are slightly anemic and if this is iron deficient anemia it may be because of bleeding during your period and may require iron supplementation. The increased ESR and CRP are probably of no consequence. Get an answer to why your hemoglobin is low. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Labs came back abnormal. My wbc, testosterone, platelets, globulin and uibc were elevated. My creatinine&vitaminD are low. Should I be worried?
Somewhat: Vit D deficiency can cause serious problems but is easy to correct with 5-8000 iu of D3/day- avoid D2! Low creatinine not a problem- just indicates you don't have much muscle mass. High WBC, platelets and globulin may indicate a bacterial infection or autoimmune issues. High testosterone may be related to PCOS. Worry just enough to see your doctor soon for further evaluation and treatment! ...Read more
Should i be concerned that my alk phos was 143 ALT and AST were 13? I also had low neutrophils and neutro absolute high basophils?
Depends on the cause: Sgot and SGPT are liver enzymes. Lowering them depends on the cause of the elevation. Some medications can cause the elevation and stopping the medications will result in normalizing them. Alcohol, gallstones, infections (mono, hepatitis), and other liver toxins can also cause elevated liver enzymes. ...Read more
Blood test showed , ESR and RDW levels slightly high, and hematocrit level decreased slightly but no iron deficiency, suffering from dizziness. Scary?
POT and Minerals: A twenties female taking Aldactone (spironolactone) and who has dizziness needs blood mineral and thyroid tests. If these are normal a mild case of postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (pots) becomes of concern. I have seen pots problem in women with joint hypermobility syndrome (jhs), and generalized musculoskeletal deconditioning seems etiologic. See an osteopath. ...Read more
