Shingles in the middle of your neck? Daughter has a blistering rash at the base of her neck, directly over the spinal column. Painful. Not itchy
Could be shingles: Chicken pox and shingles are due to the same virus (the zoster virus). If a person had chicken pox in the past (even if she doesn't remember having it), she can get shingles, which is a painful rash in a localized area of the body. Patients with shingles should see a doctor right away to get started on medication, and to confirm the diagnosis. Some people may qualify for the shingles vaccine. ...Read more

My granddaughter (16 mo) diagnosed roseola or fifths. I have an itchy rash on arms and neck and had fever blister. Any connection?
No connection: Human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) is the most frequent cause of roseola.●Roseola classically begins with three to five days of fever that may exceed 40ºC (104ºF); as the fever abates, a blanching macular or maculopapular rash develops, starting on the neck and trunk and spreads to the face and extremities. It is self limited and benign. I do not believe your symptoms are caused by Roseola! ...Read more

By the date of this post almost a week has passed. I hope you have visited your daughter's pediatrician for this problem, as well as your doctor. It is difficult to say without actually seeing the lesions what the problem is. Common causes of rashes like this are coxsackie virus, herpes virus, varicella virus, etc. Your daughter's pediatrician should be able to make a diagnosis and give you a treatment plan.
I hope all is well. ...Read more
Not sure: Why you would have a sore throat as shingles affects skin and not oral mucosa generally. Sore throat is most likely coincidental unless you are talking about the skin around your neck and that is where the rash occurred. If so then you may have post-hepetic neuropathy. If this persists consult your doctor. ...Read more

Coxsackie virus?: This could be several things but the first one that comes to mind is coxsackie virus. Keep the child well hydrated with water. Give them children's tylenol (acetaminophen) for fever and/discomfort. Take them to their pediatrician as soon as you are able. Usually resolves in about a week. Dehydration is usually the biggest problem. ...Read more
