Rash Under One Armpit
What could cause a persistent itchy rash in only one armpit that has lasted for at least two months but hasn't spread?
1st things 1st: You need to have a proper evaluation that will first exclude potential precipitators of the rash, such as antiperspirants, and try to find any other etiology of the rash. Thereafter, an appropriate treatment prescribed. Consequently, in order to treat the rash, a physician should evaluate it and give you appropriate treatment.
Several: It is possible to have an infection, fungal or bacterial. You could have an allergic reaction or just a severe irritation to shaving. Some dermatitis can start in one location or be isolated to one area. If fever, pain, or drainage or weeping fluid, see ur dr. If not can try an anti fungal powder to keep dry or mild steroid cream for relief of itch, irritation.See 2 more doctor answers
My boyfriend has a rash growing underneath his left armpit and is spreading to his right one. There no lumps or anything just kind of red, and he says it burns
Hi.: Hi. I cannot diagnose the reason for the rash in your boyfriend’s underarm. What are possible reasons? Has he started using a new soap or deodorant that he might be reacting to? Is he wearing clothes that fit tight at the underarm and are causing friction? If either of these might be the culprit, stop using the new product or try wearing clothes that are looser near the armpit. Wearing clothes that are made of natural fabric like cotton may also be beneficial as it will allow for better ventilation. Good hygiene is also important. Ensure that the arm is dried off well after washing. If his rash does not improve with these suggestions, he could have a fungal infection. Because the underarm is moist, warm and does not get much air, it is the perfect place for a fungus to grow. He may need to see his doctor to be evaluated.See 1 more doctor answer
My 3 year old son has a rash in both armpits and behind both knees. They itch. His armpit ones are spreading. What could this be?
Sounds like it: Could be eczema, a contact rash or a fungal infection. For the first 2, the treatment would be a cortisone cream and for the third an anti-fungal cream. If he is otherwise well, you could try these over-the-counter and if not better, or worsening or appears ill in any way, I would recommend seeing his pediatrician.
I have a rash on one armpit, its little red bumps with heads and there is one bump that is very swollen even under the skin. It is painful and itchy?
This Is The Pits...: You may have the beginnings of an infection in that area. If it gets too advanced it could become a real problem that's hard to get rid of and at that point it would be called :hidradenitis suppuritiva" which means a recalcitrant infection of the armpit (s). Best to get it looked at and treated right away. It's not likely to go away on its own and that big lump is a sign of that.See 1 more doctor answer

Recurring mild rash circling armpit and next to elbow. One or 2 bumps mid chest/neck. Possibly accompanied w/ congestion. Any ideas before seeing derm?
Dermatologist: This needs to be seen and a full history obtained. Guessing about it over the internet is not the best way to diagnose this. See the dermatologist, and good luck.

Several types of inflammatory conditions of the skin, allergic reactions, and sometimes bacterial, viral or fungal infections can cause rashes on the skin. Insect bites can also be the cause of a rash on the skin. Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.

I have some rashes that started 3 days ago. It's around my chest area. It's like a cluster or red tiny bumps and now spread to underneath armpits?
Virus: Rash of localized "red bumps... Which spread from chest to armpit", in a middle age man, is compatible with shingles. The virus follows nerve tracts, suggested by this pattern of evolution. If caught early enough, a course of medication can be prescribed by doctor to abort the advancing infection.
Armpit rash: You're on the right track. Your armpit rash is probably not yeast, which occurs mainly under the breast creases, abdominal creases, or genital area, but by any one of a dozen common skin fungus. It is most likely to be a fungal infection. It should respond to the same cream as used for yeast, e.g., otc Clotrimazole cream 1% should do fine.
I have small reddish lumps or spots above my armpit and it is non-itchy. What kind of rashes is that? How can I treat it?
Uncertain: You should schedule an evaluation with a primary doctor so that your condition can be better assessed.
Patchy red rashes on my neck, under my breasts and my armpits - has been like this for a number of days and are getting worse.
Itchy rashes under armpit, what are possible causes and OTC treatments? I shower daily, don't shave.
Dermatitis vs fungal: An 'itchy' rash in the axilla (arm pit) may be a 'contact dermatitis' or a yeast/fungal infection. An otc treatment for dermatitis is Cortaid (hydrocortisone 1%) and the treatment for fungal infection is otc 'anti-fungal' e.g. Lotrimin (clotrimazole). Dermatitis may be caused by exposure to chemicals/fragrances in deodorant/anti-perspirants so a hypo-allergenic subsitute may be needed. Get seen if no better.See 1 more doctor answer
