Perioral dermatitis: What you describe sounds like perioral dermatitis, a relative of rosacea. Foods generally don't make it worse but cortisone creams and heavy moisturizers do. We use anti inflammatory medications such as topical creams such as metronidazole, sulfur/sulfacetamide and oral antibiotics to reduce the inflammation. Possibly rosacea: Does the area get hot and red and flushed sometimes? If so, it could be rosacea. Other possibilities include an allergic response or a fungal or yeast infection. A dermatologist can tell you which it is, and prescribe treatment for it. ...Read more

This Is The Pits...: You may have the beginnings of an infection in that area. If it gets too advanced it could become a real problem that's hard to get rid of and at that point it would be called :hidradenitis suppuritiva" which means a recalcitrant infection of the armpit(s). Best to get it looked at and treated right away. It's not likely to go away on its own and that big lump is a sign of that. ...Read more
