I have a rash on right side of my face. It started about 5-6 weeks ago on my ears. Right side progressed from small to a large patch. Its spreading in circular fashion and effecting my right eye. My gp gave me some cream for it to no use. What is it?
Re-evaluation: Sounds like you should reconnect with your doctor for a recheck. If the initial tx didn't help s/he may have had an alternative DX in mind but won't know you're not improving unless you let them know. Based on the way it's evolved, it sounds like you may have a fungal infection & I suspect your doctor can prob tx that without much problem, or will connect you with the right physician. Good luck! I've been on lLamictal for 7 years with no problems. Two days ago an itchy rash appeared on the right side of my face. Could this be a Lamictal rash?
Unlikely: Usually, as you are I think surmising, the Lamictal rash comes on when you have begun this medication. It can be localized on the face alone, but usually it is more diffuse on the body. Again, it typically comes within weeks (not years) of administration. However, given the potential seriousness of rashes with the drug, I would get checked out with a dermatologist as soon as you can. Read more

You should visit your primary care provider or an allergist to have allergy skin or blood testing done. In the meantime try benadryl, (diphenhydramine) if that works then you can be more confident that it is allergy related. Also consider new lotions, detergents or soaps that you may be using.

Saw PCP for shingles, right side of face. No rash. Prescription Valtrex (valacyclovir). Asked to watch for rash on tip of nose. "Bump" today, but on left side of tip. ER?
Antiviral treatment: There is 'one level higher' in terms of antiviral treatment for shingles -& that's intravenous acyclovir. It's heavy duty stuff and you would need to go to the ER to get that going. The real question is though, is that 'bump' at all related to shingles Y/N. Given that this can be serious - affecting the face and possibly the eye, I think you should get it seen today. If there's an ID doc, ask 'em Read more
Blisters/rash on right side head of penis. Tested negative for herpes and syphilis. Doctor prescribed me antibiotics/fungal cream. Wut else could it b?
Reaction?: If any contact with bowl cleaner or other chemical, could be a local reaction (/"burn") from that, which may look infected on exam (hence abx/anti-fungal). The warm/moist environ slows healing. Should keep dry & aired as able (don't get arrested!) while using ointments as rx'ed. Give it a week. If not improving, get re-checked. Read more
Dr. Can examine skin: Skin rashes are hard to describe with words. A rash that looks worrisome, lasts more than a few days, or keeps recurring should be examined by a primary care doctor or a dermatologist. A doctor can start treatment, or he can do additional testing if the diagnosis is uncertain. Face rashes include acne, allergic reactions, rosacea, seborrhea, etc. Sometimes, internal disease can cause a face rash. Read more
Uncertain: This rash would likely need to be examined and more history obtained to be able to provide you with useful input about the diagnosis or possible treatment. Read more
