Got a rash on legs knees elbows and buttocks from being at the beach today. Any ideas what caused this? Not itchy- but looked like hives.
Beach Rash: Several factors can cause you to be itchy after a trip to the beach. Bugs, like sand fleas and the mosquito, are not uncommon on some beaches. The sand itself can cause irritations, especially to sensitive skin or freshly shaved skin. Another cause could be sweat dermatitis, which is a rash caused when sweat is trapped in the skin. Itching and tiny red spots are a characteristic of this rash. ...Read more

Lupus flare: The symptoms you are describing sound pretty severe. Itchy?: At this young age, I would be more suspicious of eczema (atopic dermatitis) which may be linked to food allergies as well as airborne allergens. If these rash itch, then eczema is more likely. If you are using Cetaphil lotion, be sure to use it regularly and apply it within 3 mins after bathing. Talk to your pediatrician. A discussion of eczema can be found elsewhere. ...Read more

No, the rash, probably eczema or psoriasis, is not due to miralax (polyethylene glycol). This is best addressed by a dermatologist. ...Read more
My baby is 3 months old and has reddish rashes on her cheeks, elbows, and knees. Is it just eczema?
Probably, but: I would not blow it off. Many infants are allergic to a food that is causing the rash. Getting an allergy evaluation to determine if a food is related to the rash may help to dramatically improve the rash once the food culprit is eliminated from the diet. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Eczema: Eczema is a skin problem which causes dry, itchy skin, especially in the areas you mentioned. It can come and go for years. Bathe with plain water, only mild soap as needed, no scrubbing. Pat dry and apply a good moisturizer (no fragrance, thick, not a watery lotion) regularly. If it worsens and causes raw skin, see your doctor. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
I have a rash on my elbows and knees and it was sudden. Never had skin issues in the past and II am 34. Could you suggest what it may be?
Could be a virus: There are viruses that can cause little red bumps or blisters on the hands, elbows, and knees. The rash will usually resolve in 4-6 weeks. You might also have eczema. Either way, you can try some cortisone cream to clear it up. If it persists, see your dermatologist. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
