Will a rash from wellbutrin (bupropion) go away? As my body gets used to the medication? Rash is minor and I started about a month ago drug is helping depression
Wellbutrin (bupropion) rash: Please tell your doctor immediately about the rash -- it may be an allergic response that will not go away. If there's any possibility other factors are involved (new laundry detergent? Exposure to other allergens? Etc) it can be confusing. I had a rash when taking generic wellbutrin two times a year ago I had taken wellbutrin a decade ago and had no issues should I pay out of pocket and try wellbutrin or should I fear a rash again due to the acitve ingredient?
Lots of generics: Biggest problem for your situation is that there are many different versions of generic bupropion. Since most likely you are not allergic to active ingredient, because you are ok with branded wellbutrin, unless you know exactly which manufacturer made the version that caused rash, you will not have a reliable way to avoid it. Yes: I have practiced psychiatry for over 20 years and have prescribed a lot of wellbutrin (bupropion) in that time. I can recall three patients who got a rash from the drug. One had welts, the other two a fine, poison ivy like rash. In all three, the rash resolved after wellbutrin (bupropion) was stopped. Rash is possible, but not unique to wellbutrin (bupropion).
