Not a fungus.: If you've tried "every antifungal there is", and it's still there, it is almost certainly not a fungal infection. Any rash that has lasted several months should be evaluated by a dermatologist. Get a proper diagnosis, and proper treatment. ...Read more

Can antifungals like econazole be used to treat a rash on the areola?

Yes if it is yeast: Candida (yeast) infections on the nipple and areola are common in nursing women, and should clear with econazole and related "azole" medications. If the rash is anything else, the econazole won't improve it. ...Read more

I put some clotrimazone on a rash..I think it's a antifungal cream..Should I have not put this on?

Only if it is fungus: Clotrimazole is only effective on fungus or yeast. I recommend that you see a dermatologist for a correct diagnosis and treatment. Clotrimazole will not likely hurt anything, but it also may not help unless the rash is fungus or yeast. ...Read more

Topical or oral: You gp, or a derm should be able to provide you with options regarding topical verses oral precription antifungals, which are stronger, and work better then otc preparations. Remember to always dry the area well after bath or shower, and application of an antifungal powder to promote persistent dryness through the day may be helpful.
