Painful rash: He may have the start of hand, foot and mouth disease which is due to a viral illness. Check his hands and feet over the next few days. To sooth the pain in his mouth you can give him lots of cold things like popsicles or ice cream. Hand foot and mouth : Yes HFM is mostly a summer virus but the virus does not follow the rules. Your description fits very well. The blisters last 1-2 weeks in the hands and feet. The oral sores are earlier and go away after a week. The rash is contagious if the vesicles are opened and drained. There is no treatment. Pain meds do help if needed. Drink lots of fluids. Pollen allergy?: Manuka honey is tested and must have manuka pollen: the bees feed on one particular type of flower in new zealand and australia. If someone gets a rash whenever they eat this honey it would make me think of a pollen allergy or a an allergy to one of the unique phytochemicals found naturally in that honey.
