Other causes can B from intravenous drug injection into than vein, this includes illegal as well as from IV medicine given to you recently, as in a day or two. Nothing serious: It is not uncommon for your veins to be more prominet when you do heavy exercise such as weight lifting. This can also enlarge the Valves normally present in the veins. Sometimes there could be bleeding under the skin after an injection- that will form a small hematoma or blood bruise.
