Had a holter monitor to check palpitations. Cardio doc said normal results. Report stated lowest heart rate 49 (during sleep). Normal to go this low?
Can lack of sleep/anxiety cause a rapid heart rate and 'lighthead?' I have been awake all night with palpitations/head zaps as i try to fall asleep.
Can extreme shortness of breath and heart rate fluctuations when laying down at night just be anxiety? Sometimes it occurs just sitting still. Cant sleep without being propped up. I have purple fingernails and toenails and a history of heart palpitations.

Yes: In fact, people can have panic attacks in their sleep. What you are describing is pretty much the definition of a panic attack. Short period of time, intense, physiologic response w/o real medical probs. What were you thinking about at the time? Pas are very treatable with therapy, where you work to find your triggers and retrain your brain. I do not recommend just medicating them, tho meds help. ...Read more
