What could be causing my pain in my shoulder? I fractured a bone in my shoulder and the doctors said it has healed. My range of motion has mostly returned, but my arm is still weak and there is a constant pain when i move my arm. It is a dull pain, but it

Regardless : Regardless of the fracture once it is healed you should not be having pain from the fracture proper. The fact that your motion returned tells me that this fracture had minimal to no displacement. The constant pain with activities with weakness is not something that will go away on its own. I have a very high index of suspicion for a rotator cuff tear or a labral tear. Other common problems include loose bodies (fragments of cartilage / bone chipped off at the moment of the injury), an impingement process from a slightly displaced fracture. Follow up x-rays should be performed and an MRI should be performed sooner than later. The doctor may prefer to do an MRI arthrogram if he feels you could have a labral tear or loose bodies. ...Read more

Fracture (Definition)

A fracture is a broken bone. As there is cartilage at the end of many bones at the joint, a fracture may also include a break in the cartilage. Fractures and broken bones are the same thing. It seems that many believe that a "fracture" is a lesser injury or an incomplete break in the bone, but this is not correct. Fractures may be displaced or ...Read more

After a tibia and fibula fracture on foot, and having surgery on it, will the foot have a full range of motion after surgery? currently foot is stiff.

Probally not: what happens is when you fracture bones like the Tibia and Fibula. These bones help form the ankle joint. If these bones move it is very difficult to put them back 100 percent in place also you will usually have ligament damage along with the fracture if the bones are displaced. If surgery is needed then it probally is displaced. The doctor can try to replace the bones but you will probally have A ...Read more

Slept on shoulder funny , pain persisting for 4 weeks now , X-ray came back normal..What's going on? Still have full range of motion

Muscle strain: The cause of a soft tissue injury or pain coming from an injured nerve will often not show up on a plain xray. Multiple syndromes of soft tissue injury are possible, especially if there is a history of rotator cuff injury in past. Nerve impingement syndromes also may explain this type of pain. It may be possible to narrow down the cause with a detailed physical exam. See your doctor if it persists. ...Read more

Can I have a full, normal range of motion after a dislocated shoulder surgery?

Can I have a full, normal range of motion after a dislocated shoulder surgery?

Yes: Surgery for a dislocated shoulder involves repairing the labrum back to the glenoid. The glenoid is the socket of the shoulder joint and is significantly smaller the the humeral head, which is the ball. To make up this size difference, the socket is surrounded by the thick labral tissue. This tissue is torn during a dislocation, repair prevents instability and shouldn't limit motion. ...Read more
