Could chest pain be acid reflex my wife has been having some sharp short pains in her chest I thought it could be acid reflex however the Prilosec we brought has not stoped the pain should I get her to the hospital

Hello, : Hello, I noted that you tagged this as cardiology, which suggests that you are concerned about your wife's heart. Although, I don't usually hear a mi described as sharp and short pains, I have noted that you also included numbness as a tag. I will list some symptoms of a mycocardial infarction (heart attack). Chest pain, tightness, squeezing or fullness is the most common presentation. However, the pain can also present in the upper back, the upper middle abdomen, jaw, head, teeth or in the arms (left more than right). One could have nausea, vomiting or it could feel like indigestion or heartburn. Feeling short of breath, sweating and just feeling out of sorts can also occur. About a fourth of people have no significant symptoms during a heart attack.
From the info you provided, I don't know if she has additional symptoms. What I would say is that is if feels like acid reflux to her and she has numbness, it should be approached as possible worst case scenario. I do recommend that she have an emergency evaluation and calling 911 is often the safest route to use. ...Read more

I'm having random moments of deep chest pain, once every other day, lasting only 2 breaths. It's a sharp pain beneath my 5th rib, usually after caffeine. What is happening? How can I diagnose this?

I'm having random moments of deep chest pain, once every other day, lasting only 2 breaths. It's a sharp pain beneath my 5th rib, usually after caffeine. What is happening? How can I diagnose this?

Muscular/skeletal: Several issues: 1. Muscle/bone pain is very common in the young, especially if active and reproduced by movement, deep breathing, etc; 2. Sharp-stabbing pain lasting a few seconds is normal and typically indicates transient nerve compression, called the 'precordial pinch'; 3. Caffeine can cause some normal heart rate increase, which can be associated with chest discomfort. ...Read more

Hi, I'm getting sharp chest pain at random for 3 to 5 seconds only? I'm working in IT company. Blood pressure is normal. What would be the cause?

Not enuf info: Although it's impossible to say, my guess would be a muscular source because of it's marked brevity. Cardiac pain is neither sharp nor that brief. GI tends to be burning or gnawing with loss of appetite and/or nausea. Arthritis usually is ongoing. Do certain movements or positions make it worse? Can you find trigger points by compressing the area that hurts? That would reinforce the dx. ...Read more

I will randomly have trouble breathing and sometimes feel dizzy or a sharp chest pain whilst it happens, also the warm air makes it worse please help?

Yes: Are you generally anxious? Do these symptoms occur during activity like exercise? Do the chest pains occur when you take deep breaths? Although someone of your age typically doesn't have heart problems, your doctor should check an EKG to evaluate for any abnormalities (ie arrhythmias), also a test of your thyroid should be done. Hope this helps. ...Read more

High bp, chest pain and short of breath. No wheezing, never smoked. Having a sharp stabbing pain under my right shoulder blade and pain, weakness, tingling in right arm. What should I do?

Go to MD: I think it is wrong to simply take things for granted without proper evaluation. The history may not seem like it is your heart but to say definitely it is not is wrong as things can coexist. It seems like it is nerve pain but it is best to see your doctor, be evaluated, get an ekg may be and whatever else is needed and be safe. ...Read more

What are likely causes of: sudden eye and ear pain, severe sharp chest pain, clammy, short of breath, low bp, higher pulse, pain at base of skull?

Get checked: Most likely ANS blockers (toxins, pathogens, allegens) are causing your symptoms. The base of the skull is the occiput. Infection at occiput will predispose HA, sleep dysfunction, and perhaps anxiety issues. Occiput pain projects to the back of the eye. ANS blockers at the ear/TMJ will cause ear pain. Get checked ...Read more
