Cold compresses: Sorry to hear. Apply cold compresses to the area. After about 20-30 minutes, check the blisters to see if they are getting worse. It sounds like a second degree burn. Had protected sex & have balanitus after putting hand sanitizer on my penis in sept. No blisters. Red spots on head, red Corona/foreskin. Risk of hsv?

Probably not herpes: Herpes doesn't cause this sort of problem, especially when it lasts several months. This sounds like garden variety fungal (yeast) or nonspecific balanitis, very common in uncircumcised men. Probably not caused by hand sanitizer, even if that was just before the problem started. Retract foreskin and wash 2x daily w/ soap & water. See a dermatologist if it continues after that. ...Read more

My 9 month old has hand foot mouth disease and has large blister looking spots all over his hands/fingers. Is there anything I can do?

Keep 'em clean: This is tough - I hope your baby feels better soon.

Don't break the blisters. You may want to try to keep gloves on his/her hands. If the blisters break, don't pull off the skin - it will help protect the raw skin underneath. If there is any sign of infection (redness, pus, pain), see your pediatric care physician. ...Read more

I have a black spot on my hand but I am not sure if it is a blood blister or a mole it has been there for about one and a half weeks?

Unclear: Blood blisters are usually painful, and related to pressure or trauma though not infrequently there may be no recollection of a specific event. They can take several weeks to resolve as the blood gets reabsorbed by the body. A mole typically is not painful, and would not change much over a month. So time would likely help answer this question for you. If worse, please have it examined. ...Read more

I think I have been bitten by a spider. My hand is swollen and red. It has been 3 days not the reddest has gathered to one spot. The spot is really red and has blisters. I have taken antibotics and benyagral. No doctor

Hard: Hard to tell what type of spider and whether this is infected without a picture. Any chance it was a brown recluse spider (those bites typically get worse and the skin can break down into a sore/ulcer)? Since it sounds like this is not getting better and is red and swollen, I would recommend you see a doctor for evaluation and treatment. I hope that helps. ...Read more

I was burnt by hot liquid. There is a few blistering on the spot. Its located at my waist and the size of two palm. How should I treat It?

Thermal burn treat: First treatment of thermal burns is to cool it down- remove from source of heat, splash it with clean cold water, etc, Then have to determine the degree of burn. With only redness just first degree; with slight blistering probably second degree. Next maxim is keep it clean! Get a large gauze bandage. Or Telfa bandage (plasticized) get Sulfadiazine for if blisters open spontaneously. ...Read more

I have a brown spot on the top of my toe. I am a runner. Thought the nail had hurt me but the spot is not under the nail. It was under a blister?

Color me brown.: If you think about it, brown discoloration can be caused by only a few things. The brown can be the color of a contaminate such as soil, dye in socks or shoes. The color can be from natural pigment cells located in the skin. My money is on discoloration from pigments in blood. The blister may have caused some blood fluid leakage under the skin and stained the skin brown. ...Read more

Had a red spot under thumb nail, now it's growing out from under my nail like a blister and is very painful and bleeds if bumped. What could this be?

Phyogenic Granuloma: Pyogenic granulomas are small, raised, red bumps on the skin. The bumps have a smooth surface and may be moist. They bleed easily because of the high number of blood vessels at the site.
Causes, incidence, and risk factors:
the exact cause of pyogenic granulomas is unknown. They often appear following an injury on the hands, arms, or face.
See your dermatologist to make sure of the diagnosis. ...Read more
