Can't tell: However early shingles may start with itching before the bumps turn dark and painful. Google a picture of dermatome and see if your lesions follow any of the dermatome pattern. If it does, early anti-viral treatment may reduce the intensity and complication of shingles. However if you have had the same lesions b4 at the same location, shingles would be unlikely. ...Read more

Hives: Hives can be an allergic reaction to food or medications. It is important to be evaluated by a physician to eliminate any potential causes and to be recommended appropriate oral antihistamines. Occasionally, oral steroids may be needed as well. If the hand blisters are on the palm, it could represent a severe allergic reaction known as erythema muliforme. You should see a physician quickly. ...Read more

A form of dermatitis: There are a few different conditions that may cause such a presentation. This could be due to an organism. But there are a variety of causes which could be due to eczema or a less common condition called pompholyx. Weird lace-like rash appeared on the back of hand tonight. Nothing different in routine, not itchy, spreading to other hand and wrists.?
Hands fall asleep everynight and in pain. Been wearing stints and now my wrists are itchy. What could be?
Recently, I have just noticed a bump/lump on the back of my hand/wrist. It's been itchy since last night. Is this anything to worry about?
Ganglion--no problem: Most likely, this is a ganglion, which is a fluid filled cyst. It is very common and usually is left alone. If it continues to cause pain or symptoms it can be aspirated (fluid sucked out), ruptured (usually injected with numbing medication and steroid to cause it to rupture), or removed surgically. These have approximate long term success rates of 60%, 85%, and 95%, respectively. ...Read more

Swollen wrist and hand and allergy type of lesions on the hands and on the other parts of body and lesions very itchy and swollen abit. What is this?
Can't tell: Most skin lesions require a direct examination and often a biopsy to get a diagnosis. One also needs to get a detailed history on agents used on the body. In the case of dermatitis involving the hands, irritants (frequent hand-washing, organic solvents...) are the likely culprit but contact allergen may play a role as well. In your case, contact allergy is likely since it is not confined to hands. ...Read more

Hand rash: Diagnosing a rash without a picture is very difficult, and what you're describing can be many things. We think in broad categories - like an allergic reaction to something you might have come in contact with (sometimes hard to remember exact thing), a mild eczematous reaction (even if it doesn't itch), a fungal infection, bug bites.
