I am told that having hydrochlorothiazide in combination with ramipril for years together can cause loss of sodium and other problem in body.
Diuretics and sodium: Using a diuretic, like hyrdochlorothiazide (hctz (hydrochlorothiazide)) can cause a drop in sodium (na) levels in your blood. Ramipril (r) has no effect on your na level, as its anti-hypertensive effect is based on its making your arteries more compliant which lowers blood pressure. If low na levels are a problem for you, ask your doctor if there are different options for your blood pressure control other than hctz (hydrochlorothiazide). ...Read more
