Will telmisartan be prescribed along with ramipril?

Will telmisartan be prescribed along with ramipril?

ACEi and ARB: Some studies did look into combination therapy with acei (ramipril) and arb (telmisartan). However the benefits were not great and side effects such as high potassium level were frequent, therefore this practice have fallen out of favor. I generally do not prescribe these two groups of drugs together. ...Read more

2 weeks Ramipril (2.5mg qd) caused  potassium to go to 8.5 mmol/L and was stopped. Does this rule out future use of all other ACE inhibitors and ARBs?

Not necessarily: All ace and arb medications will have some potassium sparing characteristics. Your likihood of developing hyperkalemia will depend on your state of hydration, other medication, and your renal function. Check with your doc. ...Read more

Can I take ramipril and aconite?

Yes, possibly: Ramipril is an ace inhibitor for hypertension. Aconite is a homeopathic remedy. The 2 are completely different levels of intervention and would not interact with each other. I am told that having hydrochlorothiazide in combination with ramipril for years together can cause loss of sodium and other problem in body.

I am told that having hydrochlorothiazide in combination with ramipril for years together can cause loss of sodium and other problem in body.

Diuretics and sodium: Using a diuretic, like hyrdochlorothiazide (hctz (hydrochlorothiazide)) can cause a drop in sodium (na) levels in your blood. Ramipril (r) has no effect on your na level, as its anti-hypertensive effect is based on its making your arteries more compliant which lowers blood pressure. If low na levels are a problem for you, ask your doctor if there are different options for your blood pressure control other than hctz (hydrochlorothiazide). ...Read more

Take 5 mg ramipril in mornings and 12.5 mg of toperlol at lunch daily for hbp. Accidently took 2nd dose of ramipril instead of toperlol, what to do?

Take 5 mg ramipril in mornings and 12.5 mg of toperlol at lunch daily for hbp. Accidently took 2nd dose of ramipril instead of toperlol, what to do?

You will be OK: The metoprolol lowers blood pressure and slows down heart rate. If you were on a larger dose you might be at risk of rebound hypertension. This occurs when the body keeps trying to activate the beta receptors to raise the blood pressure and in fact increases the signal because the desired affect has not occurred. At your low dose you should be ok. The extra ramipril should not harm you. ...Read more

Is ramipril better taken in the morning or at night?

It does not matter.: Ramipril is one of the best ace-i's available. It's dose should be 20 mg/day as this gives the maximum blood pressure reduction as well as the most effective reduction of proteinuria. If you take 10 mg daily, i would ask your doctor to give you a prescription for 5 mg and take that twice a day. ...Read more

Dizziness on BP med: I would tell you to speak to your physician about switching the dose before you do. You may not have enough evidence to blame your dizziness on ramipril (r). You may be anemic and that, not r, could be the cause of your problem. It is normally not in your best interest to reduce the dose of your BP medication without seeing and/or discussing it with your physician first. ...Read more
