Can you tell me if I have already had fifths disease once, will the rash appear if I catch it again?

Unlikely: If you had fifth disease in the past you are considered immune. There are some look-alike viruses that can be mistaken for this process, which likely accounts for the overdiagnosis. Most practitioners do not verify the diagnosis with available blood tests. It is such a benign process, most consider it unworthy of the extra effort. ...Read more

Not getting the ansr to my? It takes months to get up to dose of lamitical to avoid rash. How many days can I miss before I have to start over again?

Take it regularly: Of course, you shouldn't miss any doses of your medication because the condition you're taking it for can worsen. However, if you missed taking Lamictal for even 2-3 weeks, you'd probably be ok. The greatest risk for stevens-johnson seems to be when you first start the medication and then increase too quickly. But try to always take it as prescribed. Good luck! ...Read more

Do HIV rashes comes and goes in 1-2 hours and comes again after 1-2 days.

Not HIV: The rash associated with HIV lasts at least several days, often 2+ weeks, and is continuous. Also, rash is never the only symptom of a new HIV infection. A rash that comes and goes this quickly probably is an allergic reaction of some sort. Get medical care if it continues or you remain concerned. ...Read more

I have been getting rashes all over body (looks like clusters of mosquito bites) which go and come again.

?????: Not sure what the rash is from. Could be insect bites such as mites or bedbugs or it could also be due to a chemical exposure such as a new laundry detergent or some other toiletry item. I would definitely go see your primary care provider and if they cannot diagnose and treat it, then a referral to a dermatologist should help. ...Read more

There is a stange rash that appears on my back every now and again. Don't know if it could be some kind of heat rash.

Doctor can examine: Rashes are very hard to describe, so usually have to be examined to tell what they really are. A primary care doctor can help decide if and when a rash needs to be looked at. If a person feels totally normal, and only has a mild rash, she can usually wait a day to see what will happen. If her skin is getting blood spots (petechiae), forming blisters, breaking open, etc..., an E.R. can check now. ...Read more

I've been itchy for quite a while there seems to be no rash or anything, I took chloropheramine and it worked but the itching came back again : (?

Itchiness: Thank you for your question. Itchiness without any visible rash or eruption may be caused by numerous factors. The use of medications such as you described (chloropheramine) are classified as antihistamines, but do not necessarily suggest a clear diagnosis unfortunately. Proper evaluation and examination by a medical provider would be the best option to accurate diagnosis and treatment. ...Read more

Is it harmful to take a 200mg ketoconazole that is a year and a half old? I have the same rash again that required the medication in the first place.

Old medications: What is the condition of the pills? Is there an "off odor" in the bottle? Generally medications are safe to take if older but over time they may lose potency or as some - like cheap aspirin - start to decompose. You could try taking the course - it might take a little longer to resolve and if it doesn't - ask for a refill. Good luck ...Read more

Does a rash on the torso mean she's actually allergic to the food? 6 month old. When can I introduce the foods again if so?

Not necessarily: If the child does not have eczema, then the rash may be from causes other than food allergy. A viral infection often causes a rash. However, if this rash comes on shortly after you have introduced a new food or formula, then the chances of a food reaction is much more likely. If the rash has totally cleared, you may try introducing the suspected food again (since there was no anaphylaxis) and see. ...Read more

The rash could be an allergy to some new medication, a new soap, detergent, plant, animal, an infection, etc. There are many causes of rashes.
