How does laser hair removal for full body and face work? How many sessions before permanent generally? Risks? Will laser fade scar marks too?

Laser hair removal: It works by heating and destroying the follicular unit of the individual hairs thereby inhibiting future hair growth and can work for hairs anywhere on the body. The number of sessions depends on your skin and hair color, and the location and density of hair. On average, 3-5 sessions (~4-6 weeks apart), will result in 50-80% reduction in hair growth. ...Read more

Can anyone tell me how much stinging during laser pulse therapy for skin tightening on face?

Varies: The type and extent of discomfort associated with laser and radiofrequency therapies on the face vary by the type of modality being used. For radiofrequency type skintight such as relift by viora, the discomfort is minimal at best and it's more of a mild suction than anything else. This is generally what i would recommend for skin tightening on the face. ...Read more

Can sclerotherapy injections be used on the nose instead of using a laser (1 wk. Down time) to decrease 2 spider veins?

Smoking cigarette after done with fractional co2 laser procedure, will it affect the skin rejuvenation process?

Probably not: Different lasers target different color targets. In case of pulse dye generally red colors are targeted which is why it is used for port wine staining. If your facial hair is closer in color to PWS there may be a small effect but it isn't likely. ...Read more

How do I choose between laser skin resurfacing and dermabrasion? I am concerned about skin bruising following skin rejuvenating procedures, as my job requires me to interact with the public. Is laser skin resurfacing a more gentle procedure than dermabras

How do I choose between laser skin resurfacing and dermabrasion? I am concerned about skin bruising following skin rejuvenating procedures, as my job requires me to interact with the public. Is laser skin resurfacing a more gentle procedure than dermabras

Dermabrasion : Dermabrasion is an older, less precise resurfacing technology that has been mostly replaced by laser resurfacing. The carbon dioxide (co2) laser was the first generation of these lasers and was characterized by excessive pain, swelling, downtime and residual redness that sometimes lasted for 2-3 months. In addition, it often led to permanent destruction of skin pigment (melanin) producing cells, resulting in a permanently pale skin zones. The most versatile and useful of the current generation of resurfacing lasers is the erbium-yag laser. Although this laser can be used as a full resurfacing device (with a downtime of 7-10 days) the more current updates on this technology allow partial or fractional laser resurfacing , whereby only a fraction of the targeted skin in resurfaced in any given session, while leaving islands of untreated skin in between. This untreated skin then acts as a readily available reservoir of cells that speed up surface healing of the skin, decreasing the actual downtime to about 3-5 days, depending on the specifics of the treatment settings. With fractional erbium-yag laser resurfacing, many patients are able to go back to work in only 4-5 days. ...Read more

Unquestionably : Unquestionably yes! you'll have 1 - 2 weeks of downtime with dermabrasion. A non-ablative laser resurfacing (fraxel) will need to be repeated a few times to get the same results but with minimal downtime and very little risk of discolouration or scarring. ...Read more

Cardiologist does not use radio frequency procedures at all on anyone; only endovenous laser ablation treatment for varicose veins. Approach limited?

RF vs Laser: The use of RF or laser for endovenous closure procedures is a matter of choice of the treating physicians. Both do the job well and the long term results of both are very similar. I prefer laser over RF. Currently there are other options for closing veins including Varithena, Venaseal and Clarivein. I still prefer laser over all of them. ...Read more

Laser versus cauterty of facila spider veins... Which is safer? Will cautery cause scarring of my face? Does one hurt more than the other?

Laser versus cauterty of facila spider veins... Which is safer? Will cautery cause scarring of my face? Does one hurt more than the other?

Both are safe: Both laser and cautery work well to treat facial telangiectasias. When a large area of the face needs treatment, a laser is often easier and faster to do. When there are localized areas that need treatment, cautery is often more effective and is less likely to cause loss of pigment in the skin. It is helpful to use a topical numbing cream , so both treatments are more comfortable. ...Read more

Can you get your inner elbow numbed with topical numbing cream before they draw blood?

Yes: It may help some. The key, though, is mental preparation. Think to yourself, "To be brave, act brave." Think of the pain that your mother endured to give you birth. Think of the pain that others suffered on your behalf. Think about how much better it is for people to see how tough you are. Nobody likes having blood drawn, but most of us fake that it doesn't bother us. Yo can do it too. ...Read more

Can topical face creams ect..make your tongue swell?

Yes: You can be allergic to almost anything, except maybe water. So if there is an ingredient in the face cream to which you are allergic it could make your tongue, or even your whole face swell. If you are having any trouble speaking or breathing, you need to go to emergency; otherwise, most mild allergic responses go away overnight. You could take a little Benadryl (diphenhydramine). Don't use that cream again! ...Read more

How long does the pain last after radiesse (dermal fillers) injections? I've heard that the radiesse (dermal fillers) shots hurt a lot in your cheeks. Will it go away fast?

.

Typically, : Typically, there is no significant pain following the injection of facial fillers. The injections can be uncomfortable without some type of anesthetic, and your plastic surgeon should give you the option of a topical anesthetic applied to the skin (moderately decreases skin sensitivity) or a nerve block (a quick injection that very effectively numbs wider regions of the face, including the sensitive areas such as the lips). ...Read more
