Radiation from 4.4 mci of thallous 201 card. Stress test? True govrn. Rec. Annual radiation exp. For worker is 50 msv? Sign. If amount is single dose?

Radiation from 4.4 mci of thallous 201 card. Stress test? True govrn. Rec. Annual radiation exp. For worker is 50 msv? Sign. If amount is single dose?

4.4 mCi Thallium 201: Would result in an estimated total effective dose of 26 msv, approximately 9 years worth of natural background radiation (3 msv per year). Nuclear regulatory commission annual worker whole body limit is 50 msv. However, single organ limit is 500 msv/year. For thallium, the critical organ (most dose) is the kidney, and for 4.4 mci injected, kidney effective dose is approx 88 msv (17% of annual). ...Read more

TSH 26 (0.35 -5.5) current dosage of thyronorm 100mcg what should be the new dosage?

TSH 26 (0.35 -5.5) current dosage of thyronorm 100mcg what should be the new dosage?

Hypothyroid. : The new dose would need to be guided by your blood testing, and is not completely predictable. Barring any contraindication to such, I'd probably go up to 125-150 mcg and test blood in three weeks. Dose can be adjusted and blood can be checked every three weeks until the proper dose is realized. Always better to go slower than quicker in this regard. ...Read more

Can X-ray technician provide over dose of radiation in chest X-ray?
He said that my amount of radiation for 4 views of chest X-ray was 7msv.
Why?

That is: approximately the radiation dose of a chest CT, it is far too much to be the dose from a 4 view chest X-ray, which should probably be. 1/10th of that or less. Perhaps you misheard the technologist? I'm not sure why the tech was providing you that info out of context anyway. ...Read more

Is a Suboxone taper charting tool ok for determining a gradual taper strategy based on half-life? The chart is on subotex.Com (called taper chart)

A chart is chart : A chart may be helpful in planning a suboxone taper. However, individuals are different and so are doctors. A doctor may have a better strategy not accounted for by a chart. A chart cannot account for pharmaco- genetic, dynamics and kinetics. The same applies for many man made guidelines which neglect many. ...Read more

Heard pet scan expose equal radiation as ct.What will be the radiation for pet +ct which are using nowadays combined? Is it double the CT radiation?!

Heard pet scan expose equal radiation as ct.What will be the radiation for pet +ct which are using nowadays combined? Is it double the CT radiation?!

Variable: The exact radiation you get from ct and pet/cts varies based on the used protocol. Roughly speaking a diagnostic ct gives you a rad dose of 10-15 msv. Pet/cts are often done with low-dose ct, so instead of 10-15 msv you get 1-2 msv from the ct. For the pet portion is approximately 8-12 msv. So a regular pet/ct is approx 12-14 msv and if you add a diagnostic ct you get 10-15 msv more. ...Read more

Would like to know how to calculate radiation dose on an abdomen pelvis CT scan 477.01 mgycm and ctdi measures 10.13 mgy. Thanks

Using the DLP,: The estimated effective dose is 7.16 msv. According to research from 2010, this may be a low estimate by about 10%, and there are slight variations based on scanner manufacturer differences. You need to relate this to natural background radiation exposure (3 msv/year), and the reason the ct was performed. For example, if the ct diagnosed appendicitis, then the scan probably saved a life! ...Read more

What is the lowest intake suv on a pet scan(lung nodule)?

What is the lowest intake suv on a pet scan(lung nodule)?

Zero: The lowest suv (standardized uptake value - a semiquantitative measure of metabolism) is zero. The maximum suv in a region of interest is called suv max. Generally, if the lung nodule is less than an suv max of 1, it is likely benign. However, there are plenty of non malignant diseases that can have increased FDG uptake, such as healing fungal lung infections, called granulomas. ...Read more

I find a lot of conflicting evidence on the average radiation dose from a CTPA scan. I had one back in 2012 and was curious as to an estimatd rad dose?

You are wise to be: aware of your radiation dose, but don't let it scare you too much. Seek to keep your exposure low, but don't refuse a study which is medically necessary. Most imaging centers keep track of the radiation dose you received. Call and ask them for your radiation dose on file. If you have the CT on a CD, I can review it at HealthTap Concierge healthtap.com/saurbornmd. It might have dose information. ...Read more

How much radiation is there for an 11 yr old for a barium swallow exam? I have read the effective dose for an adult is 1.5 msv as well as 3 msv?

See below: Average barium enemas will result in a dose equivalent of approx. 13msv. To put this into perspective, the average background radiation dose in sunny hawaii is about 2msv per year. This is the dose that the average person receives from the environment each year. In some places backgrown radiation is 10 times this and no increase cancer incidence exists. What is the amount of radiation of one film chest x ray PA and one digital chest x ray PA in mSv?, is radiation dose 0.02 mSv in film or a digital?

Nothing to worry abo: Radiation doses delivered/received during check X-rays are so tiny that you do not need to worry about any harm. Unless you exceed 30-40 mSv (which only happens with the use of multiple CT scans done) there is no worry about cancer causation from diagnostic radiation. ...Read more
