Should I do & how much radiation CT scans for one dental implant causes vs regular chest/head CT scan or one digital tooth x ray. I am curious to know
Radiation dose chart: We only want to take the minimum number and type of x-rays or scans in order to properly diagnose and treatment plan. Without that we might either miss something or the final result might be compromised. Here is a good website for you to look at: http://www.Ans.Org/pi/resources/dosechart/. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Ct uses xrays taken an 360 degrees combined with a computer to see"inside" the body. The table moves as the xray tube and detectors spin around the patient 10 times a second or more! the image shows excellent soft tissue detail, enhanced with injection of intravenous contrast or oral contrast. This way the body is shown in slices, in any plane, usually axially, but ...Read more
It depends, if ever.: The tissue damage done by radiation exposure is related to the dose, the age of the patient and the organs that receive the dose, as well as genetic factors relating to the patient. Also, the time between exposures is important. Almost any single ct exam of any one body part is exceptionally unlikely to cause any harm. The issue is repeated imaging of the same area, particularly in young patients. ...Read more
I'm trying to understand how much radiation a CT scan has. I've had two, but no more. Can it be average per say to have two and still be ok?Fearcancer
Do not worry: While CT scans do expose a person to radiation, the information gained is usually worth the slight risk. There are many things you can do to safeguard your health, e.g., maintain healthy weight, exercise at least 150 minutes/week, take HPV vaccine, avoid excessive sun/UV exposure, no tobacco or alcohol. ...Read more
Can you get to much radiation from CT scan? Can it kill you years later from cancer? How bad is to get CT scan at the age of 30yr. I had one chest ct.
Don't worry: The radiation exposure from a single chest ct is ver low and provides either very little or no additional risk. ...Read more

Is taking iodine helpful when exposed to radiation via CT scans /multip. X-rays? The japanese took it after bomb and nuclear disaster.
Have received roughly 25msv of radiation from CT scans past three year. Will have no more unless absolutely nessecary! 22yr m vegetarian, eat lots of fruits and veg, what is the risk of cancer? Scared
Less dose than airli: This is a very low dose compared to other risks in our environments. It is less than an airline attendant who makes a couple of transcontinental trips a year. I think we would all be well advised to limit unnecessary radiation but if there is a medical need i would have no problem getting another ct or pet scan. The only exception would be a pregnant woman in first trimester. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Is there any way to get rid of radiation from CT scans? Risk if cancer. Two brain ones and a chest one in a year
Can't get rid of it: The radiation from the CT machine's x-ray beam is there when turned on and not there when turned off. Imagine a light switch in a bathroom... turn in on, there's light... turn it off, it's dark. So, there is no radiation to "get rid of" once the CT beam is off (the radiation is instantly gone). Doctors will order CT scans when the tiny risk of radiation harm is outweighed by benefits of scanning. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Radiation concern: It is always reasonable to be concerned about radiation exposure, but you have to keep it in perspective of the risk of the disease being considered. One ct scan is not a lot of radiation, while a pulmonary embolism can cause death. The risk to benefit would favor having the ct scan. ...Read moreSee 5 more doctor answers
When would CT scan cancer effects show up? If i received too much radiation as a result of CT scans, when would the cancer potentially show up? Could i get canncer in 10-20 years because of CT scan radiation?
Delayed, high dose: In general, ct scans do not by themselves cause cancer. You would have to have had dozens upon dozens to risk the development of cancer. Having said that, when radiation induced cancers development, they are usually in the field of radiation, and usually are sarcomas (soft tissue malignancies). Based on your age, you would have to have had hundreds of cts in a short time 15-20 years ago. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Is there a lot of radiation associated with a CT scan with contrast for the renal area? Can the contrast cause an allergic reaction?
No: CT of abdomen is a fairly routine test and not considered a radiation danger. Th incidence of allergic reaction to contrast is 1-3% with non-ionic agents and 4-12% with ionic contrast agents.Non-contrast agents are the type generally used today. The benefit from the diagnostic value of the test far exceeds the risk of these 2 issues. Hope this answers your question. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
If a CT scan radiation gonna cause a brain tumor how many years it will take for the tumor to appear from the radiation
3 years is enough?
Read more about it: To learn more about imaging and radiation, see: http://www.Conciergeradiologist.Com/ct-scan-radiation.Html and http://www.Conciergeradiologist.Com/radiation-exposure.Html. Properly indicated imaging studies represent, by definition, situations where the risks of radiation exposure are outweighed by the benefits to the patient. I wouldn't worry about ct scan radiation causing a brain tumor. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Can a CT scan radiation cause cancer in future? Done ct scan due to kidney stones. I am 52 male. Please reply.
Don't worry!: The risk of getting cancer from radiation exposure to one CT scan is infinitesimally small. You get exposed to more radiation by living your routine life every day. But it's good to remember that radiation dose accumulates, so the more CT scans you have over your life, the higher the risk. It's always a good idea to keep track of how many tests you are having, and to remind your doctor! ...Read more
Do i need to worry about a brain tumor caused by a 2 brain CT scan radiation i got 3 years ago if I have some dizziness now
im 27 years old help me ?
Get checked,,,: You should get your dizziness checked out but at your age it's highly unlikely to be a brain tumor even with your history of ct scans. It's likely due to another possible cause, like lack of hydration, or sleep or too much lethargy/drowsy inducing medication. Still get checked if you're worried, but keep in mind one of these more likely explanations. Good luck. ...Read more
