My daughter Rachel was at school today when I received a phone call from the school stating that Rachel peed her pants. What can I do to help her?
Rachel fell yesterday afternoon and got a fat lip. The next morning, the swelling looks worse. When should I consider going to see a doctor?
Look for infection: Usually a swollen lip doesn't require a doctor's visit unless there are signs of infection or it continues to swell after a couple days. Generally you can help the swelling go down by applying a cold pack to the swollen lip for 20 min at a time. Signs of infection are redness in the surrounding skin, increasing pain or fever. If there is a cut on the inside of the lip it could get infected. ...Read more

Race day?: Most 1/2 and full marathons begin am or late am. My plan was to carbo load the 2 or 3 days prior to the run and on ' game day' eat a bagel (no butter/ cream cheese)and gator aid for breakfast and that's it. I ran plenty distant races w/ this strategy. Really, your training before the race is most important. Just don't eat more than above (or similar) and keep up your fluid intake during the race! Natural vs Processed: If the fat is of natural origin (; not concentrated from plant sources; we are animals, not plants) then probably healthy. E.G. Fats on/in meat, lard, bacon grease, also palm, coconut ; olive oil (if high quality). If concentrated from plant sources or processed/hydrogenated (even without trans-fats: only cis-fats) then highly questionable: ie paleo principles ; consistent with all actual science. ...Read more

Does internal biochemistry differ significantly (if at all) between the different races of people?
I think the internal: Biochemistry of different races are essentially the same. It's the external factors, the lifestyle and nutritional habits of people that varies!
