The current vaccines in the developed world are safe and produced in tissue culture whereas some older vaccines were produced with methods that could cause neurological side effects.

No specific age : The product available in the us for pre-exposure rabies prophylaxis is approved for all ages & dosed at the same for all. The vaccine requires 3 doses over a 21-28 day period. Low risk bite: Domestic dogs and cats are at low risk for rabies in most areas. Your local health dept. Can provide you with info on any rabies detected in your region. You've adapted: Most large volume intramuscular injections hurt, so you have probably gotten used to the pain of the injection by using good coping mechanisms. I would make sure that the vaccine was stored properly and I would also try to determine what happened to the animal that exposed you to rabies.
