What are the symptoms of quitting cymbalta (duloxetine) and how long should they last?

Return of symptoms!: I agree that you can experience serotonin discontinuation syndrome when stopping cymbalta, (duloxetine) which can feel like having the flu and sometimes strange sensations as well. As a result it should be tapered if possible with the help of your provider. This is pretty rare with Cymbalta (duloxetine) however; of greater concern is the possibility that your symptoms could recur, you should discuss this with your doc also. ...Read more

Dose duration matter: Cross-tapering antidepressants is often done to prevent negative side effects from coming off a medicine. Even a medicine that isn't working well enough is often doing 'something' and patients may miss it when it's gone. Although Cymbalta (duloxetine) interacts with A LOT of drugs, Lexapro doesn't. Over a short period (2 weeks), at reasonable doses, there shouldn't be problem. ...Read more

Can quoting cymbalta (duloxetine) make me nauseous and dry heave for a month now? I quit cold turkey. Also my stomach hurts at times and am really gassy.

Possibly.: The dose and length of time you've been taking Cymbalta also determines the severity of your discontinuation syndrome. The treatment is supportive in nature, taking Phenergan for nausea and vomitting, advil or tylenol (acetaminophen) for headache. Make sure you see your pcp to make sure you don't have any electrolyte imbalance or dehydration. ...Read more
