Side effect of byetta?

Pancreatitis worst.: While uncommon, pancreatitis is still considerably increased on byetta. It does potentiate weight loss, requires multiple daily injections, and is valuable in diabetes-2, when properly used by someone familiar with aside-effects. That having been said, the side-effects of uncontrolled diabetes are much worse. ...Read more

I just started taking byetta for my diabetes. How safe is it? .

A good drug: It is safe, and can help with weight loss also. It is certainly safer than obesity and hyperglycemia. You may read about reports of pancreatitis and even pancreatic cancer. The lawyers are trolling for this, too. The real risk of pancreatic injury from Byetta is not completely known, but is very, very low, and is a handful of isolated reports out of millions of people who have used it. ...Read more

Byetta: Half life for the regular Byetta is 2.4 hr so it gets out of your system in about 10-12 hrs. Side effects would be high blood sugar if you don't substitute it with another antidiabetic agent. ...Read more

What are the common side effects of the anti-diabetic drug byetta?

GI side-effects: The single most common side effect of Byetta is nausea and occurs in most people when they start therapy. Typically it goes away over time. It is best not to overeat when you take Byetta because it can make the nausea worse. Less common is diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal distension. Hypoglycemia may be a problem if you are also taking certain diabetes meds called sulphonylureas. Talk to your doc. ...Read more

I am takin Levothyroxine, Byetta 5mcg, &Metformin. I havnt been able to lose weight. Do these rx's cancel out each other???

Misinformed?: You are using medications to treat medical conditions. They are not designed to be weight loss medications and you cannot possibly rely on them to be such. Let them do their job and you do your job of eating less, eating more proteins than carbohydrates and getting daily exercise. ...Read more

Diabetes care: 47 year old woman with Type 2 DM considering restarting therapy. You are smart to want to continue therapy. You should visit your physician and a diabetes educator. You need a set of labs, including a Hemoglobin A1C to see what your glucose average has been over the past 120 days. You need to learn to check your blood sugar and to let your physician determine the best medication. Good luck. ...Read more

Type 2 diabetic Atkins diet on metformin and byetta for about 2 yrs. Bs high after exercise. Stopped exercising and bs better. Should I exercise.

Continue exercise: Typically exercise results in lower blood sugars. If sugars are high to start, they can sometimes go higher with exercise. Sometimes exercising in the morning causes sugars to rise, but doing the same exercise in the afternoon or evening causes it to drop. The benefits of exercise outweigh any temporary effect on your blood sugar, so I would continue it. ...Read more

No: Bydureon (exenatide) lasts a week instead of 12 hours like byetta. That means it takes 3-6 weeks to get into your system and equilibrate before you'll see it's full potential and action. Not autoimmune. Give it time to work. ...Read more
