Can swaddling help babies sleep?

Can swaddling help babies sleep?

Yes: There perhaps is something about recreating that intrauterine environment which some infants find most comforting--swaddling. Neatly tucking a baby into a pea pod shaped bundle can provide security and warmth unlike anything else. So, once all snuggled in, sleep can not help but to come much more easily. Try it, you will like it...And so will baby! ...Read more

Can newborn babies breathe whilst drinking?

Can newborn babies breathe whilst drinking?

Sometimes: Sometimes infants are not coordinated and drink and breathe at the same time. This may cause coughing or in some cases as aspiration pneumonia. This situation occurs more often in premature infants or infants who were depressed at birth. It still could happen with other infants and it takes time and patience to teach them how to not do both at the same time. Aspeechtherapist may help. ...Read more

Why baby not sleeping at night, sleeping at daytime?

Why baby not sleeping at night, sleeping at daytime?

Baby: Babies sleep so many hours that the night alone would not be enough. Plus, they require frequent feeding, so they wake up often. And on top, they are slow eaters (they are very smart on this!). So it is ok. Babies sleep only when they feel like. Gradually, they grow up to adjust to a more normal (for adults) pattern. ...Read more

3 mos baby is sleeping good at nite, but fights nap time& barely sleeps how many naps=length?

3 mos baby is sleeping good at nite, but fights nap time& barely sleeps how many naps=length?

Great nights!: It's hard to recommend anything that might sacrifice your nights. Preserve that no matter what. For the naps, start a strict daytime feeding schedule of every 2 -3 hours. Force the nap-time, but don't allow the naps to be more than an hour at a time. This will allow your child to get some rest, but hopefully it will not affect your nights. ...Read more

Sleep disorder? Struggle to stay awake after 6 pm and keep nodding off drooling. Wake up at 3:30/4am wide awake x1year. Ruining social life. Why?

Not sure why: You fall asleep at 6 pm because you get up at 304 am. You would benefit form seeing your doc and or a sleep specialist. You may have food allergies. I would also consult an acupuncturist. You are clearly imbalanced and they offer a whole other dimension of care that is very helpful. ...Read more

1 month old awake for 12 hours, won't sleep - warm bottle, swaddle, dark, quiet, car rides, lay on my chest, singing, rocking... I'm worried...

Sleep: Don't worry. If there was a problem, you baby would show other symptoms like crying, fever, vomit, rash, etc. If the only symptom is you baby is awake, there is nothing you can do. Most infants will naturally fall asleep when they are tired. Most take 2 naps in the day, and 12 to 15 hours at night, but just like adults, they can go off schedule. If 24, go check her out. ...Read more

My baby is 3 months and will only sleep in stroller. When can I stop worrying about sids if she doesn't crib sleep?

My baby is 3 months and will only sleep in stroller. When can I stop worrying about sids if she doesn't crib sleep?

6 months: Sids is related to more than sleeping in a crib. For everyone's well-being, get baby out of a stroller for sleeping and into an empty crib with a firm mattress. No pillow, animals, blanket or bumper pads. Have her tummy-sleep. Don't smoke. Once she is rolling over consistently both ways, you can feel comfortable that sids is highly unlikely, usually by 6 months. The crib is the safest place! ...Read more

6 wk old extreme difficulty sleeping. Won't sleep in crib, swing, car, or swaddled. Please help it takes us hours before she finally falls asleep.

It can be tough: Make time approaching sleep time calm and quiet. Don't feed, overstimulate, have tickles and then expect the child to just shut down and go to sleep. Won't happen. Dont respond instantly so they learn to lull themselves to sleep. Let them figure it out without a lot of interference from you. Google My newborn won't sleep.
