Nasal polyps?: I'm having some trouble visualizing your description, but maybe you have nasal polyps? Regardless, a physician needs to evaluate you and examine the nose. Enlarging mass in the nasal cavity should be seen, particularly in the context of changing lymph nodes, should be seen. I suspect nasal polyps and/or infection may be the cause and both require treatment.

How long?: If it lasts over 6 weeks, see an allergist. If it is short term, try some otc antihistamine up to 4 x the regular frequency but watch out for drowsiness. Otherwise topical Hydrocortisone cream should be tried. If it still did not work, see an allergist.

Rash: Rashes are hard to diagnose sometimes when you are looking at them. Impossible to diagnose without even seeing them. You need to see your doctor.

Mono rash?: The rash may indicate an allergic reaction to the antibiotic your are taking. You should bring this to your doctor's attention. Strep pharyngitis and infectious mononucleosis have similar presentations. Not uncommonly when mono is treated with a penicillin type medication the patient may develop a non-allergic rash which could be another explanation for the rash described in the question.

Small back bumps: Could be folliculitis which is an infection of hair follicle, a sebacous cyst or sebacous gland infection (acne), rarely a wart or growth. Would have it checked out by doctor /urgent care, as they can enlarge. May improve with antibiotics either topical like bacitracin or oral.

Eczema vs infection: This rash could be a dry skin patch like eczema that is now becoming a superficial skin infection. It is important that this be evaluated by a physician to determine the correct treatment. Eczema can be treated with topical steroids and moisturizers while an infection requires antibiotics.

Itchy?: This sounds like it might be contact dermatitis.... your skin may be reacting to something it came in contact with, like poison ivy, metals, detergents, etc. If it is itchy, try hydrocortisone 1% cream. If that doesn't help, or it is very warm, painful, spreading, or draining pus, it may be infected and you should get it checked by a doctor.

My grandson fell backwards and hit the lower back part of his head and it swelled into bump right away, should we take him for an X-ray?

My grandson fell backwards and hit the lower back part of his head and it swelled into bump right away, should we take him for an X-ray?

Head: X-ray not necessarily, being evaluated for it yes. Common area to swell up and more than likely should be ok, but let a medical professional evaluate it and determine next step. Likely observation will be the right approach unless develops any vomiting, major change in behavior, etc.
