Did sprints 10 days ago in the cold. Still feel soreness (continue to exercise daily). Did i strain my quad muscles? How long will i be sore?
Probably: If you did sprints and now feel discomfort in your quads w/ walking and esp.Stairclimbing than you did. Muscle strains( depending on severity) of the quads in your age group can take 2-6 weeks to heal.Best to avoid sprinting or fast jogging for ~4-6 wks to avoid re- injury. Gl! ...Read more
After a vigorous exercise, my quads are extremely sore, causing my legs to buckle when I walk. What steps do I take to heal, and prevent more injury?
Don't push so hard!: 1st drink plenty of water to rehydrate. Then take it easy ie no exercise for next several days until you're better. Next time, don't push so far, so fast, so hard. Yes, you still need to exercise but not to that extent. In meantime, do stretch all your muscles, especially the sore ones. Depends: It depends on how badly it is pulled, how much physical therapy you do, how well you take care of it. Pulled quads are hard because we use that set of muscles so much. Maybe rest: If the pain is from injury to muscle or bone, then rest until pan free and gentle therapy to regain function. If the pain is from working out, then staying hydrated and considering if this is "healthy" and expected pain or from doing to much. If from another cause then it depends! if the pain is disrupting function and no problems with them, otc pain meds can help too. ...Read more
