Doctor insights on:
Not unless Rifampin: Antibiotics (aside from Rifampin) are believed not to affect BC pill effectiveness. A woman who takes birth control pills correctly, and is beyond her first pack of pills, has contraceptive protection against pregnancy every day. That means she can have sex every day and not get pregnant. (Of course, any woman of child-bearing age, having sex, CAN get pregnant... the possibility is always there.) ...Read more

My cycle is about 26 days, my luteal phase is about 15 days. On cd 17 I always get brown cm until AF. I went off qlaira in july '14, is this normal?
Partial answer: Unless you got pregnant because you stopped the qlaira 9 months ago, there's NO relationship between your previous use of Qlaira and your current menstrual cycles. However, I'm not certain what "cm" and "AF" mean to you and not sure what your referring to when you ask "Is this normal? " If you want an answer to your question, you need to be more specific and avoid abbreviations. ...Read more
Me n my bf had sex while I was on the first white qlaira pill and he came in me, could I be pregnant?
Perhaps: Oral contraceptives aren't necessarily effective during the first month. Other forms of birth control are appropriate during the first cycle. If you are just starting on the pill, it would depend when your period was due as to when you were due to ovulate. If you started properly on the fifth day of your period, day one would not be the time you ovulated. However, impregnation is still possible. ...Read more

I am on the Qlaira pill and am up to the 19th day. Yesterday I got my period and it was normal, today it is very heavy and black, what does this mean?
Did you miss pills?:
Don't worry! "darker blood" at the end of your cycle is normal. It means the blood has been in the vagina longer, similar to when you're cut. Fresh blood is red, but becomes darker after exposure to air.
Do get std testing and an exam if you have pain with sex or urination, change in vaginal discharge, odor, itching, or a new sex partner. Remember bleeding on the pill is not a "period". ...Read more
Had a baby 9 weeks ago on Qlaira pill for 2 weeks and on my period? Is this normal? Not on the active pill!
Qlaira for bc: Having your period after "two weeks on Qlaira" is probably related to the normal resumption of your hormone cycle after pregnancy, not to the Qlaira (if you are not presently nursing). There are other reasons why bleeding can occur, so see your gyn provider for an exam and other testing if this continues. ...Read more

I’ve recently come off Lexamil and qlaira. Can this cause excessive weight gain and body pain especially at the neck area?
I've been using Qlaira contracceptive for 4 years. This month I had period-like bleeding/spotting 2 weeks after menstruating. What could be the cause?
There are a number of reasons for spotting or abnormal bleeding or menstruation. Most of the causes are NOT due to any serious condition such as cancer. But it is IMPORTANT to see a gynecologist to find out the cause and to be SURE that nothing serious is present.
The most common cause is Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding (DUB): The cause is hormonal. SEE: http:// bit. Ly/19cKee5 http:/bit. Ly/1CnC9xV ...Read more

I am 21 years old, female, and taking birth control pills (Qlaira) for my endometriosis. Can I take glutathione capsules together with my pills?
Started new pill qlaira (not on first day of period)missed 2 periods, negative blood and urine pregnancy tests. Never skip pill. Causes?
Likely normal: Some people get no periods on the pill even when taking the pill correctly. This is because the hormones in the pill are so balanced in that person that no lining of the uterus grows so there is nothing to shed as a period. This is not a problem. ...Read more
Experiencing severe spasmodic groin pain running down leg while I'm having the withdrawal bleeding with Qlaira. After 4 cycles same pain, why??
I started on the Qlaira contraceptive 2 weeks ago after having a c-section and im on my period and i’m not on the active pills still on the top part.
Could be normal: It is very common to have irregular bleeding during the first month or two of birth control pills. It's also common to have bleeding for the first 4-6 weeks after having a baby. I would continue taking the pills as directed, and I would expect your cycle to normalize by the third pack. Also, let your obstetrician know about your symptoms when you go in for your post partum exam. ...Read more

I had a baby 3 months ago I am on my second period and using Qlaira but i’m not suppose to be on my period previous and current period was irregular. I’m currently experiencing extreme pain on my lower abdomen. Help?
Abd pain/period?: Low estrogen levels in oral bcp's require taking the active pills within the hour of the time the previous pill was taken to avoid breakthrough bleeding. It is recommended to take the bcp's in the evening, to avoid sleep disturbances by taking them in the AM. Lower abdominal pain with vaginal bleeding can be serious, so see your gyn provider for an exam and testing. ...Read more

Can omega-3 pills cause birth control pills to fail (qlaira) or breaktrough bleeding in the middle of cycle. Never missed any of bcp?
Unlikely. Only EPA =: Eicosapentaenoic acid, https://www. Google. Com/#q=eicosapentaenoic+acid, from phytoplankton, at ~750 mg/day dosages (much higher to ↓ triglycerides) has evidence of reducing all cause mortality (vs. placebo) in many clinical trials, not the other omega-3 fatty acids. Effects on clotting remain somewhat unclear & largely minor. Regarding bleeding issues, not likely relevant, despite some marketing. ...Read more
Does qlaira birth control make you miss your period? Definitely not pregnant and no other symptoms. Should I see a doctor anyway?
Combined pills: Qlaira is a combined oral contraceptive containing an estrogen and a progestin (progesterone-like). These do make periods shorter and lighter with less cramping and, over time, you can occasionally skip a period but this should not be something that happens often. If you are worried or are missing pills or taking them late, you should definitely see your doctor. Hope this helps. ...Read more
I take singular and qvair inhaler for asthma but I have trouble working out how do I control control my asthma while working out. I also spaz when run?
Not controlled: If you are not able to do the things you want to, you asthma is not well-controlled. There are many ways to achieve this, but it will probably need more meds. If you are not at maximum dose of Qvar (an inhaled steroid) this may be an option. Adding a bronchodilator (albuterol) right before activities may also help. Although not optimal, there are also longer acting bronchodilators. ...Read more

Don't stop: At least for now, possibly can half the dose till you see her doctor and discuss in the next visit. Qvar, an inhaled corticosteroid, is one of controller medicines for asthma, she has less attacks and uses the rescue medication much less often because she is on Qvar. Weight gain wouldn't be side effect of the given dose, height is a more sensitive measure, rarely affected, pls keep the follow up ...Read more
