I've been experiencing sharp pain(left side) back pain.Fever&vomiting. Its been three days&it just gets worse. What is this im feeling? Kidney infection

Definitely possible: It sounds like an infection that is either climbing or made its way to your kidney, called pyelonephritis. This can often occur from an untreated, sometimes subclinical urinary tract infection. This can be dangerous and i would recommend seeing a physician as soon as possible as left untreated it can cause kidney damage or systemic infection leading to even more serious problems. Please see someon. ...Read more

I've had a kidney infection & I'm on antibiobiotics. I got the flu a few days later with vomiting & now 5 days later I can't eat & have yellow diarrea?

Followup with Dr.: Hi Julia989. See whoever ordered the antibotics to see if a culture was done. You may need a different medication, particulaly if its causing diarrhea. You need fluids, and perhaps should be in hospital if you keep vomiting and cant eat. ...Read more

Is it possible to have acute pyelonephritis with a negative CT scan, urinalysis pos for infection, flank pain, nausea/vomiting, fever?

I believe so: I am not a radiologist, but as a pathologist i can assure you that i've seen cases of pyelonephritis that i'd think are are too subtle anatomically to show on x-rays. White cell casts in the urine establish the diagnosis, and if there's white cells in the urine and flank pain and fever, the presumptive diagnosis is kidney infection, imaging or no. ...Read more

Seen in Er extremely bad kidney infection urine was tea colored vomiting as well on 2 antibiotic.still vomiting any reason Y I do feel better.

Clarification: If you are feeling better great. Sounds like you are still vomiting. The kidney infection /Pyelonephritis or antibiotics can cause this to happen. I would suggest a recheck at the Emergency room to confirm that it is still an infection and rule out other disorders. Good luck ...Read more

I was hospitalized with massive fever, vomiting = kidney infection. 1 month later pain still around my back and stomach is swollen like pregnant. Help?

See urologist: Acute pyelonephritis, or kidney infection, can lead to kidney abscess, which may need additional treatment, including surgery. If the infection was due to presence of a kidney stone, this can also lead to persistent symptoms. You should see a urologist for additional testing, including urine culture and urinalysis, possible ultrasound or ct scan. ...Read more

Dark vaginal discharge, UTI might've lead to kidney infection, vomited yesterday w/severe headache out of the blue on the pill&had unprotected sex. ?

Dark vaginal discharge, UTI might've lead to kidney infection, vomited yesterday w/severe headache out of the blue on the pill&had unprotected sex. ?

Possible STD, PID?: I'm worried you have an STD, like chlamydia or gonorrhea and maybe pelvic inflammatory disease (PID, fallopian tube infection). Brown vaginal discharge goes along with STD more than UTI, and gonorrhea and chlamydia can cause urinary burning, frequency, etc. like a UTI. Abdominal pain from PID can be confused with kidney infection. Whichever you have, this is serious. See a doctor or clinic ASAP. ...Read more

Stones?: Someone in your age group should respond pretty quickly to antibiotics unless the bacteria is resistant to the antibiotic you were placed on. However, kidney stones can cause blood in your urine and pain up near the kidney also. We're you evaluated for stones if you are not responding to the antibiotics and the culture shows sensitivity to the medication you were on? ...Read more

In the course of...: sexual activity many illnesses, diseases and injury can occur. This scenario, in the absence of other symptoms mentioned, seems most likely to me from strained skeletal muscles. I took Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) to treat UTI for three days. I am worse. Now have Vomiting, nausea, cramps, burning urination, fever, and low temps of 96.4. What could this be? Could it be a kidney infection?

Worsening UTI: Yes, these could be signs of a kidney infection, or a bladder infection that is not sensitive to Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim). The prescribing doctor needs to hear about this immediately, because someone who is vomiting cannot keep down further meds. They will probably arrange a late add-in clinic appointment or ER visit. ...Read more
