I believe so: I am not a radiologist, but as a pathologist i can assure you that i've seen cases of pyelonephritis that i'd think are are too subtle anatomically to show on x-rays. Yes: To have a urine infection with a normal urine analysis is possible but is not that common. Fungi such as candida which may not be detected on urine analysis. Recent exposure to antibiotics and prolonged storage of urine sample can cause false negative results. If you have symptoms of urine infection than urine culture is needed.
