Is feeling a PVC(premature ventricular contraction) any more dangerous than not feeling them??Mine are benign but they are killing my anxiety

Is feeling a PVC(premature ventricular contraction) any more dangerous than not feeling them??Mine are benign but they are killing my anxiety

No!: one the great mysteries in my practice is why some patients feel PVCs and why some do not. There is no correlation between severity, frequency, or risk. The main issue regarding PVCS is excluding structural heart disease and ischemic heart disease. Ischemic heart disease (heart vessel blockages) is quite unlikely in your age group. An exercise stress echocardiogram will clarify all those issues ...Read more

Premature (Definition)

Very premature is a condition in which a baby is delivered between 28 and 31 weeks' gestation. Depending on how premature, how sick, and how lucky or unlucky a baby is, he can get brain problems, cerebral palsy, blindness, deafness, developmental problems, learning disabilities, severe lung diseases, infection and loss of some intestines, etc... Babies who are only moderately premature usually ...Read more

Cardiologist said premature ventricular contractions were causing me to pass out. BP 118/100 HR 105 at appt. Does Pvc cause high BP? Is PVC result of high BP? Is it bad my system and dia are so close together?

PCPs NOT RELATED/BP: Pcps are not caused directly due to high blood pressure and pvcs do not cause high bp.Your systolic and diastolic are not that close together, but you do have highbp discuss your concerns with your cardiologist as you do need to get your BP controlled and rhythm taken care of as you are passing out and that is a serious symptom/sign and needs to be taken care of. ...Read more

What is the definition or description of: premature ventricular contraction?

Extra beat: A premature ventricular contraction is an extra beat from the bottom of the heart. Any cell in the heart can cause a heart beat but most usually stay quiet and defer to the main electrical system. Occasionally a single cell can fire off on its own causing an extra, or what many people refer to as a "skipped" beat, much like a muscle twitch. ...Read more

Are premature ventricular contraction or ectopic heartbeats dangerous to me?

Are premature ventricular contraction or ectopic heartbeats dangerous to me?

PVCs and MI: Premature ventricular contractions mean that there is irritability in the heart muscle and normal heart rhythm which starts from high up in the atria is inturrupted in some beats and those beats are originating in the ventricle.Bot it does not mean that it is directly due to mi.But you can get pvcs with mi.Occasional pvcs are not serious but if it comes from many foci and in runs it can be seriou. ...Read more

Is premature ventricular contraction a health risk and what are the precautions needed by a client having this kind of dysrhythmia?

Is premature ventricular contraction a health risk and what are the precautions needed by a client having this kind of dysrhythmia?

Generally not: A big concern but they can make people symptomatic. Hydration and reducing stress can be very effective at minimizing these but if still problematic medication can also help. ...Read more

Would echo, ekg, stress test, xray, bloodwork rule out any arrhythmia problem such as premature ventricular contraction and paroxysmal atrial fibrillation?

Would echo, ekg, stress test, xray, bloodwork rule out any arrhythmia problem such as premature ventricular contraction and paroxysmal atrial fibrillation?

No: Occasional PVCs are normal. Paroxysmal atrial fibrillation by definition is only present some of the time and the tests you list could easily miss this if done while the heart is in normal rhythm. Diagnosis of intermittent arrhythmias can be difficult and frequently requires consultation with a cardiologist subspecialized in electrophysiology, Holter monitor test is frequently used. ...Read more

I have premature ventricular contractions and I'm wondering if they were caused by anxiety.

I have premature ventricular contractions and I'm wondering if they were caused by anxiety.

No: Premature ventricular contractions or PVCs for short are extra beats from the lower chambers of the heart - the ventricles. Symptoms include skip beats and/or palpitations. In your age group, these beats originate from the outflow tracks. Anxiety can exacerbate the symptoms but are not the cause. ...Read more

Contraction (Definition)

This usually has to do with the onset of labor. It is a muscular tightening of the uterus. Contractions are timed from beginning to end of hardening of the uterus (duration) and from beginning of one contraction until the beginning of the next (frequency). A third descriptor is intensity or how hard ...Read more
