Would putting my head over boiling water and Vicks help to drain the fluid from my two ear infections?

Would putting my head over boiling water and Vicks help to drain the fluid from my two ear infections?

More a waste of time: If something needs to drain it will spontaneously. If you have a middle ear infection the fluid must drain into your throat from the eustachian tube. If outer ear, it drains by itself. If you enjoy holding your head over boiling water, do so & you can relax. I wouldn't ever do it myself. ...Read more

Have dentist appt in two days for infected but draining tooth, I feel fine but should I push for anything earlier?

Up to you: If there is no pain and you are not swollen, you are probably fine for 2 more days. With that said, if you are concerned of problems occuring prior to your appointment, you can always ask for something earlier. ...Read more

Laparascopic appendectomy 3 months ago, naval scar suddenly began peeling & is now 'draining' pinkish fluid. No pain/swelling. Infected or normal?

Maybe: You really, need your surgeon to look at the surgical site. "weeping" from wounds is not necessarily infection. But, it needs your surgeon's attention. ...Read more

Be more specific: Please provide more details and ask a specific question. Based on what you wrote, it appears that you were prescribed the antibiotic Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) for some skin infection. If it is an abscess/pustule, then the most effective way to treat it is to have it drained via sterile instruments by a clinician. I suggest going back to your clinician asap for re-evaluation. Take Care! ...Read more

Tinnitus: These symptoms may represent a condition called tinnitus, where one hears buzzing or ringing in the ears, or water noises as you have described. I would consult an ENT physician who can do tests in his office to determine whether there is eustachian tube obstruction or fluid behind the ear drum that is causing these sounds to be heard. ...Read more

I was having redness & a small bulge in my inner lower eye for 3 days. Then it started draining sticky colorless fluid & then a little white fluid.

I was having redness & a small bulge in my inner lower eye for 3 days. Then it started draining sticky colorless fluid & then a little white fluid.

Stye?: Your description sounds like a stye. I assume you meant inner lower eyelid, rather than eye. A stye (hordeolum) is a plugged oil gland in the eyelid, which can sometimes become infected. Alternatively, it could be an plugged (and possibly infected) tear duct (dacryocystitis). In either case, I recommend seeing an ophthalmologist to be sure. ...Read more

Red raised painful lump on vulva. They come and go. Drain whitish thick fluid when come to a head. What are they?

Vulvar lumps: This sounds like blocked glands. The best thing to do is warm soaks or apply moist heat for 10 minute 2-4 times daily. Scrubbing with antibacterial soap twice weekly may help. If none of this works, seeing a dermatologist or gynecologist for more advanced advice would be advised. ...Read more

Nasal drainage: Such nasal drainage could be vasomotor rhinitis, allergic rhinitis or of sinus origin. Since this is a chronic, persistent problem for you, I recommend an evaluation by an otolaryngologist for diagnosis and treatment. ...Read more

I have fluid behind left eardrum following a head cold. Hearing loss and mild pain for 8 days, no fever, won't drain. What should I do?

Antihistamine: Decongestant for a day or so with salt water gargle. There may be some swelling in the oropharynx preventing drainage and pressure equalization through the eustation tube. If this does not work have sombody have a look in the ear (primary care or ENT) ...Read more

Went to urgent care two days ago. Had my cyst drained a bit. He gave me bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim). Now my cyst has developed a pus head. Should I drain it or let it be?

Best NOT: If the cyst was drained and you are on appropriate antibiotic it ought to gradually resolve. Applying heat frequently will help some. It may open and drain on it's own, but if needing drained again, it would be best performed by a professional. Just because a lesion is coming to a head, does not mean necessarily that it is ready to be opened. You might check back with the people who drained it. ...Read more

Waking with sore head blocked nose blowing nose and yellow fluid drains out. Gp says there's nothing they can do?

Find another Dr.: Yellow discharge usually means infection, and may require antibiotics. In the meantime, I suggest Afrin nasal spray to shrink your nasal and sinus membranes, and open up your eustachian tubes. Also, get a cool mist humidifier, and fill it with one bottle of hydrogen peroxide and two bottles of water. The H2O2 will kill virus and bacteria on contact, and break down into harmless water and oxygen ...Read more
