Pus Cells In Swab Results
Here are some ...: Pus cells are degenerated white blood cells and its presence denotes inflammation inside urinary tracts does exist usually resulting from bacterial UTI, STD-related urethritis, stone, tumors, foreign body, physical related event including surgery & instrumentation, etc. But, careless urine collection may lead to significant contamination so to show pus cells but commonly along with squamous cells. ...Read more
Gram stain sputum- presence of few epithelial cells, moderate number of pus cells, few gram positive cocci in chain observed in smear
What does this in?
Sputum gram stain: Sputum gram stain testing is not done nearly as often as it once was, since we now know it usually isn't very helpful in diagnosis. The white blood cells (pus cells) suggest infection like bronchitis or pneumonia -- but it's usually possible to judge this just by appearance of the sputum (e.g., yellow or green mucus). Gram pos cocci could be entirely normal bacteria. Discuss with your doctor. ...Read more

Could be many things: Overall having white blood cells(pus) and red blood cells in a stool test suggest some sort of inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. But it doesn't specify why this the case. It could be related to an infection, or from an autoimmune process(like ulcerative colitis) or from low blood flow to the intestinal tract. ...Read more
What can be the cause of haematuria, polyurea and in urine microscopy pus cells(10 in number) epithelial cells, leucocytes?
Could be infection: Sounds like it could be a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) But there are other possibilities. UTI's often show blood cells in the urine (hematuria) & leukocytes (white blood cells=pus=pyuria) are also present. However epithelial cells (skin cells) in a urine specimen can indicate that the urine specimen was not properly collected & has some cells from outside the urinary tract, too. Ask your doc. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Just had a urinalysis, my results are: pus cells: tntc/hpf; red cells: 1-3/hpf; epithelial cells: +; crystals: a. Urates.. What does this mean?
UTI: Sounds like a urinary tract infection (UTI). There are other causes for having white cells however bacterial infection is most common. If you are having urinary symptoms, then it will probably require antibiotics. Urate crystals are probably secondary to this however if it doesn't clear then consider gout. ...Read more
Seminal fluid result: microscopy: few gram +ve cocci seen. Few pus cells seen. Cultures: moderate growth of skin/commensal flora. Is it infection.
See below: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, you appear to have urinary infection and should see your doctor for a prescription. ...Read more

Cervical smear test result contains superficial and intermediate squamous cells metaplastic cells & neutrophils cells in background neg for NILM?
Nilm: Means negative for intraepithelial lesions or malignancy (so negative for bad things - I.e., all good). The squamous, metaplastic and neutrophil cells are all normal cells. The idea of Pap smear is to catch cervical precancer or cancer and it doesn't see either here which is great! ...Read more
Fever and urine in orange color -pus cells are 8-10/Hpf and epithelial cells are 6-7/Hpf in complete urine examination.
See answer: Your urinalysis may be indicative of either a urinary tract infection or normal vaginal contamination. The presence of only leukocytes (WBCs) in the urine has a poor predictive (<45%) probability for UTI and has resulted in unnecessary administration of antibiotics to one third to one half of treated patients. A urine culture is recommended and is the gold standard for the diagnosis of a UTI. ...Read more
My urine test results are urine micro pus cells 25-30, epithelial cells 20-25.My doc have given antibiotic without having culture test done.Is it ok?
Not at all: That is not right. The first thing would be to repeat the urinalysis since there were skin cells, ie, contamination, on the collection. These skin cells could have been the source of the wbcs. Also, how would he know if the antibiotic would properly treat this infection if there was no culture to base it upon. Pls repeat the test. ...Read more
Vaginal swab result
direct smear: no trichomonas
gram stain : epithelial cells positive cocci and positive bacilli..Is it normal?
My throat swab report says this "Gram Stain : No pus cells and occasional gram positive cocci in pairs and short chains seen.", Antibiotic treatment?
I did an hvs test and the result is epithelial cell : numerous, pus cell 3 -4hpf yeast + others nill.when cultured it yielded scanty growth of candida?
Yeast? Other? STD?: Your test results are mixed. Seeing any by microscopy, with pus cells, suggests overgrowth and active infection, but "scant growh" is slightly against it. If symptoms typical of a yeast infection (vaginal irritation and itching, usually little discharge), treatment for yeast probably will help. Pus cells can suggest other infections, e.g. STD. Discuss with your doctor or clinic. Good luck! ...Read more
Results from urine sample show really high leucocytes and epithelial cells in urine. Also high erythrocytes. What could this be? No bacteria present.
Might still be a UTI: Gram +ve organisms tike staphloccus, stretococcus,& enterococcus are all nitrite negative & thus urine dipstick can show as -ve for bacteria, yet you can still have a UTI, Urine needs 2B cultured to rule out a UTI in presence of so many leucocytes, Another explanation could be Mixture of introital smegma + some menstrual flow. Very rarely & unlikely TB, unless exposed. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
