Check bruises out: It sounds like those are bruises, or blood vessels that are breaking. Without trauma as a cause, they could be from a bleeding problem from disease (like liver, or blood abnormality) or medications (like Aspirin or similar drugs, or coumadin) or even some kinds of cancers (leukemia).
